Good, comprehensive report again, Mark. For anyone looking to get started properly on their first 'big-ish' bike, this machine is certainly a good candidate. Reminds me very much of the trusty old Honda CB400N Super Dream I had way back when dinosaurs roamed about. It taught me a lot, being friendly and confidence inspiring and at 43 odd horsepower, just enough fizz to also have some fun. This latest incarnation will be just the same.

I had one of these as a curtesy bike a couple of weeks ago, loved it. I'm 6'5" and I found it fairly comfortable even though I probably looked like i was riding a grom.

I had the predecessor to this, the CB500F, cracking bike but too revvy for me and even with an MRA double bubble screen I found the wind blast tiring. Changed it for my much loved NC750X DCT. That little 500 was great fun though on shorter runs.

…the Ford focus of the bike world. And all the better for it. Lifelong Honda fan I had the “original” hornet, with the cbr6 motor in it. Which, is sadly missed. Currently have the ATAS and an RR5 blade in the garage, and ZXR750H2(well 1.5 to be really specific, VERY rare…) I’d add one of these to the stable for the daughter to get to and from college/uni in a couple of years. Thanks Mark, good work. 👍

An excellent small(er) bike from Honda…..the CB500 (Hornet). As you say, great little all-rounder, economical, quality construction, easy to maintain…what’s not to like? Lack of character the main thing. Does everything asked of it but simply doesn’t stir the soul. When I was taking out my first 500s for a spin they all had presence, looks and attitude…Ducati Pantah, Guzzi Monza 500, Morini 500 & Z650 et al. Great bike ghe new little Hornet but somewhat lacking compared to those old classic midweights.

Hi Mark, top vid as always. Though I have to say, naming no names, but when I got and wanted to add stuff to my NC750X DCT, even a Honda dealer said the stock heated grips were not as good as the Oxford ones, I'd have to, and i have, specked the bike to may taste. You can definitely save a few hundred pounds. Thanks for sharing and see you on your next adventure ✌️ 🤙 🤟

If only Honda put a round headlight on this bike and it would be a serious contender for my first bigger bike. Instead I'm drawn towards the 650F among Honda's range.

G'day Mark, as you know l love the Honda brand and this is why, in the late 80s l bought a 2nd hand CB 750 for a trip around Australia, being away for 16 weeks and traveling 15,500 km that bike ran perfectly only having too replace the back tyre, since then l have had a CB 1000 and never had a breakdown, thanks for the review of another fantastic machine, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.

Interesting review, thanks Mark. I'd love to take one of these for a spin. Here in Ireland, Honda's pricing continues to baffle me. You don't see many new Honda 500's on the road here it seems, as the single-cylinder bikes are offering more value for your money.

@@markpulling12 Thanks Mark... I had an accident (got side swiped - other person's fault) with my old vehicle and it was totaled by the insurance. It still runs but has over 320,000 miles. I didn't want to put the insurance money into that. So I opted for a new motorcycle as my primary transportation to and from work. If the weather is terrible, I'll drive my vehicle... but it is worn out and I need to save it until it can be replaced. This will be a great change... but I still need to get all new riding gear. I saved about $1200 on the new bike purchase because it was on sale and that will help to go toward the new gear. Gear and accessories can be as expensive as the cost of the bike. One thing I will get is an Alpinestar 'fly by wire' instant inflation vest. This safety device has saved allot of lives from accidents... similar to the auto accident I just had. It isn't just the engine that is great about this bike. The suspension is soft but dues not lose composure in the tight turns. Best of both worlds. The tech and build quality are also hitting way above par for the price. Gord
