I bought one of these a couple of months ago as my second bike, it is increasingly becoming my first bike. I didn’t have high expectations when I bought it, I just wanted a small bike to run about town. But with every ride I become more impressed with this machine. I love it!

Maybe you should wait. It’s prudent to avoid the Mark 1 version of anything. Any problems should be addressed in the Mk2 version. (Remember the Mk1 Himalayan 411 with the weak frame at the headstock?)
@podunkman27093 ай бұрын
Well, it gves a lot of fun when off-road. But on paved road the engine is so weak (not 'speed' but no engine flexibility - u change gear every second), dashboard is so primitive, the workmanship is asian and ... u have to change oil each 6000km. Almost there

Engine and info/nav display are winners. I expect they will appear in road versions. Big 👍 to RE for offering bikes with a centre stand as standard. I hope to see bikes with a rear DTRL red light bar above the number plate for added visibility.

I was never a fan of the bike Itchy Bits rode as it always seemed too boxy/angular to me. This however is a vast improvement, and assuming its power output is sufficient for your needs it's hard to see why you wouldn't consider this machine. I like it.

Ive been waiting for your review of this Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Mark. Such a great practical motorcycle with style. Lovely build quality and the paint work and welds look great and I,m certain that Royal Enfield would have been rigorous with their R&D and "in the field " real world testing before bringing this massively updated Himalayan 450 to the Showroom floor. It looks finished and complete in so many ways.

Great review Mark. I cannot see any advantage of this bike over the new Honda 500 Hornet, unless you go off road often. The Honda is a little pricier but so much more accomplished: More comfortable, faster, more economical, much better dash, lighter. I suppose it boils down to personal preference and style.

Golden rims is such a strange choice for a rough adventure bike, very out of place. Apart from that the 450 Himalayan seems like a very capable bike, but I won't be switching my old 411 Himalayan for one. I really like the rugged simplicity of the 411, that simplicity is gone on the 450 with all the electronics and a less do-it-yourself friendly DOHC engine. But a big thumbs up to Royal Enfield for still giving all their bikes a center stand, no other manufacturer do so anymore, if you're lucky, they'll sell you one as an accessory. And as we all know, chain drive sucks, but chain drive and no center stand really sucks!

Certainly an interesting change in direction for Royal Enfield as they attempt to drag themselves towards the 21st century. I've no doubt the bike is a vast improvement over the old model whist still retaining its utilitarian looks that I would assume would appeal to the die hard RE fans. Indeed utilitarian is probably it's USP compared to the competition. Can't help thinking it would make a great military bike? My guess is the CF Moto will be a better overall bike (I certainly hope so as I have a deposit on one). Anyway. It will be interesting to see if RE continue this trend towards modernisation and, if so, how they will compete the the rise of the Chinese bikes. Probably a market they would do well to avoid as it would appear, from the pricing of this compared to the CF Moto, they would struggle to compete.

Thanks for the review, Mark? On initial impressions it looks good vfm. Build quality looks better, electronics upgrade and water cooled. It’s going to need a test ride for curiosity, if nothing else. It looks a tad overweight. With 2 plus luggage on board I’d be slightly concerned about any long(er) distance work; could be wrong, of course, but a concern. Fine for solo, absolutely. I think the new Chinese CF Moto 450mt could prove very stiff competition; Enfield is well established…..not sure if I could (yet) part with the folding on a Chinese bike. You are a bit naughty, Mark! Why not have a ball and squish through those puddles on the gravel track, cover it in mud and let’s see where the crud gets with the long front mudguard and rear fender (welcome inclusions)!

Are you sitting on the bike with the seat set at 825mm or 845mm please? Also the low option seat is not the same as this seat unit to clarify :)

Well done Mark.. Bigger than the Triumph 400, without being bulky. Which would you choose ?

Tough choice....out of the two the royal Enfield.....but my favourite so far is the voge 525 lol 😆

@@markpulling12I have a Voge 525X on order (without the luggage) should be here late April?

Seems a big improvement over the previous model but then the price has gone up. I wouldn't want the tube tyres and really don't like the rear light built in to the indicators. For riding on the roads in England I much prefer the Triumph Scrambler 400. Great review as always, cheers.

Going to put you on the spot Mark. Now that you have test ridden both the new Himmy and the Voge 525. Whats the best bang for buck in your opinion.

Me personally I prefer the sit in feeling of the voge with it's better bigger frontal area screen But the Himalayan is better off road which it will be doing all round the world Best wishes mark
