Brilliant and a timely post….I’m in the middle of building an air screw tether car, the “Roadster” plans and build article in Aeromodeller December 2020 😊

I remember seeing this at Mote Park, Maidstone as a boy in the 60's. It was never explained to me what I was watching but the smell was glorious!

It is deeply pleasing that tether cars are still being run. I read about them in Aeromodeller in the 1980's and here we are in 2024 and they are still a thing. WWHT?

I want to build a track at my farm in the worst way. Either flat tether or high bank board track. A lot of work to play by myself though.................... Like the bicycle starter!

Pleased you enjoyed the video, tethered cars are certainly fun to watch and take part in, as you say very few younger people in the hobby to day, very sad. Thanks for the comment 😀

Tether cars, as we Yanks call them, can get pretty insane. Imagine something that resembles (sort of) a top fuel dragster with a 10cc Nova- Rossi (just guessing) for power, a tuned pipe for more power, and 50% nitro for, well, you guessed it, more power! 200 + mph. 😮

Hahahaha, yes I have seen the speeds you guys get, they really do shift. Think all of the cars in the vid were 2.5cc Great fun to watch 😀

Now that's a bit different, at one time they had a track at TSME in Newcastle in the Exhibition park

Certainly facinating to watch, love walking around looking at the car designs! Did you spot the sparky?
