Sonos Beam Review | Small Soundbar, Big Sound?

The review was focused primarily on TV, but the Beam makes a pretty decent mini stereo system as well so your getting 2 devices with one.

I just got one and more impressed with the sound for classical music . I'm a classical musician and usually don't like sound bars for classical music as their sound is to bass heavy. The tone is clear and the separation is outstanding.

Thank you for this review. I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment and I can't have a sub as it will annoy my downstairs neighbours. This limits my choices as far as sound systems go. This is the soundbar I got for my 49'' TV. I mostly use my TV to play games paired with my astro headset. I needed something smart and small to upgrade the less than ideal built-in speakers on my TV.

Have you tested Bowers & Wilkins Formation Bar? Is it better than sonos in terms of more premium sound?

Haha… your last comments are exactly for me. We have a beautiful TV that plays mainly streamed tv shows (Gilmore girls, Criminal Minds) and sport events (NFL, NHL, UFC). We don’t need a home theater setup, just want solid audio quality. Thanks for the review!

Awesome review Mark , i've just bought one of these today and getting delivered tomorrow! i have two Sonos Play 1's so this will go great in the living room connected to them. Also so pleased i've just found your channel! i will be happy even if i could get my videos half as good and sleek as yours!! What camera and lens setup do you use?

its concave on the top so the lights from the buttons are hidden from the viewers point of view. Im so torn btw the playbar and beam, the playbar just doesn't seem to justify the high price since Ive had it for a week in my home

I think the concave top is to stop reflections from the TV.

Yes, but for the crazy high price of all of those, you can get a much better 5.1 or even 7.1 setup.

The Sonos beam is perfect for good sound quality in a bedroom set up. Yes in my living room I want something that’s a little more dynamic so I have the Playbase with the Ones being used as surround speakers and the Sonos subwoofer so it’s a complete set up but in the bedroom I just want to improve the sound of the TV and not put a separate sound bar and sub woofer in the bedroom not necessary. This is perfect for that application.

petermazbabie if you add the Sub and 2 Ones to the Beam it fills up a room and the sound is great.

@@DWilliam1 exactly what I wanted to hear . I have X2 ones and am really looking to add the beam . For 5.0 sound . The sun would be over kill . Does it enhance music ? I listen alot and my I am very happy with me stereo set up on the ones . Does this take it to the next level ?

Not impressed by Sonos. Why no optical or mini jack? Oh, so now I have to buy an ARC enabled TV. Great. I’m taking it back, LG is by far superior and cheaper. The beam is not that good sound wise, it is a bait and switch and you really need other Sonos sub or speakers.

There are definitely better options if you want room filling sound. I'm a big fan of a 3.1 setup with a decent Denon amp and Klipsch bookshelves/center/sub, but that can get pricey for some. I didn't mention it in the video, but if you want to go the upgradable route, you can get a good refurbished Denon amp and a couple of Klipsch R14's or R15's for around $400 and then upgrade later to a 2.1, 3.1, or 5.1 setup.
