That was an amazing video. Explains a lot to this dry lander. Spent many summers fishing below the keokuk dam along the power plant.

I've been following for about a year and a half, I am glad you got out and showed what it entails to secure your cargo. I am 65 now, but if I would have caught these videos back in the 70's,, I may have hightailed it from my hometown and hopped on board as a deckhand. I was always into the physical aspect of the job, and the cables, and hardware that is the rigging sure would have met my standards of keeping fit on the job, rather than PAYING money to use some fitness facility. I truly believe this would have been an occupation I would have enjoyed. Last thought, I was a carpenter for the majority of my life, it was my life's calling since building forts and such when I was old enough to remember, I did what I enjoyed, but again, I think this may have been another love,, had I had the chance. Thanks for giving us a peek to what it is like out on the rivers.

Glad you enjoy. I grew up on farm, so I was definitely drawn to the physical labor outside. Missing lots of life at home type stuff, but it ain’t a bad gig mostly. 👍🏻

My dad grew up in Cairo and Tamms. I visited his old home as a kid. I remember chasing bullfrogs at Fort Defiance until I accidentally stepped on one. Broke my heart. I used to loved eating at Shemwell's. Is it still open? Your video brought up a flood of memories. Thanks so much for posting it.

I enjoyed this video! I've been subscribed for a while, but haven't caught many of your videos yet. If it's OK to ask, what boat are you on? Do you stay on the same towboat most of the time, or have you been on a number of different boats since doing these videos?
@marktwained

M/V Stone Strait in this video. I ride a variety of vessels with the company. I like flexibility of schedule instead of a regular boat. I usually fill in wherever. Works for me and company quite well.

@@marktwained Totally understood! Later I realized that boat is the same one formerly named "James W. Buky". I got interested in taking pics of passing towboats in the Louisville area back in the early 1990s. I remember seeing it passing by on the Ohio River a few times. I took a photo of that boat in May of 1992 as it passed through the Louisville & Portland canal. If you ever view the Marine Traffic site, my pic is in the list of photos shown for that particular boat. The boat doesn't look a day older after 31 years! 🙂 Nice paint job and it looks so spic and span! Thanks for posting these videos!!

Are the transducers wired or wireless??

Wired. It’s not heavy gauge, but having to roll out 2,800’ of cord (7 long & each side) is what it takes sometimes.
