No time travel...ever. If so we would obviously already know about it unless it's a forward only prospect and indeed we are waiting on technology and a greater understanding of the universe. Same for aliens, we would already know unless FTL is indeed impossible in which case we are all of us on our own little islands separated by a sea vaster than the mind can truly fathom.

@@KonichiWawa About aliens - why you decide we must know anything? It is possibly to write whole books of misc forms of live which can travel everywhere even with almost our “slow’ technologies (e.g. robots to which was loaded consciousness or they can be immortal and time for them means nothing), but more likely they are just much more developed and we for them like ants, maybe else one out billions form of ants.

@@juliap.5375 I wish you were right Julie I really do. I consider myself an eternal optimist but I would be ignoring the reality of physics. It takes too long to travel between different solar systems. You can reply "What about ..." the thing is if you really look at it the idea of interstellar travel isn't such a problem if you look at our progress but the issue is how easy it is for civilizations to wiped out. Ours could be gone within the timespan of minutes or even repeatedly reduced over and over again. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt on us developing some means of artificial gravity. An astronaut who spent a year in space was so gravely affected. He even had developed an issue with his blood flowing backwards in certain parts of his body.

For me it would be X3 Terran Conflict, must be awesome to fight pirates, Xenon and Khaak Clusters with such a set. That game even includes near earth sectors, but only in space, when you come too close to a planet you die. Hmm, B5 mod would be awesome, going to war with a Whitestar or even Starfury.... with that kind of set, mindblowing.

This is exactly my set up is going. I've started to ditch screens. My first sim set up was a claustrophobic link trainer esque cabinet with three thifted screens of similar size. I made a computer to run it all and it took me months to build. I sourced MFDS from other simmers, eventually got functionality beyond what small buttons I had. I mounted my controls and made them interchangeable with a few twist knobs and quick releases. I had to custom make things for it to all work. Stick to swing out, be removed, steering wheel slotted in for racing. Keyboard+ some other button boards for multiple controls. By the time I was done it was impressive. It took me two years of continuous building, improvements, etc. most of it was stuff I bought from the thrift store electronics section or stuff I found in FREE section of Craigslist. I made it a pod, caulked it up and put vent holes, made a literal AC system and fan built in for winter. Why? Well because it was in my mom's garage. Now that I've gotten older, my own place. I had to shelve a lot of my set up in favor for space. Now I'm slowly rebuilding it. I'm hoping to get a rental property with a useable basement. That way I can dedicate a good bit of space to something like this Just switched to projector last month for my temporary set up..I need to do some tweaking and improvements, but damn is it a game changer.

I would probably have wanted to find a way to improve the ergonomics of using the overhead touch-screen from a seated position, but that is genuinely the only thing I can think of that could be improved. I'm very impressed with how little distortion there is between the three panels, i.e. straight lines look a lot more straight than I would have expected from such a setup. I so want to build something at least halfway to what you have for Star Citizen. I currently play Arena Commander on a trio of 24" BenQ monitors. In games like Elite Dangerous or Arena Commander bigger always means more immersion because your field of view is always filled with the game. This is what space and flight simulators are meant to be played. You dashboard is a work of art. I love Do It Yourself projects like this. Makes working with your hands worth something.

To be fair, it’s more time and effort and drive more than money. We all spend money on something. Think about what people sink into cars or a million other hobbies. I don’t think I’ve ever liked any game this much, but it makes me happy that people find anything that isn’t hurting others to be this gratifying. Well done.

Yeah, tell that to my body. I can't use vr devices longer one or 2 hours before getting either a headache, nausea or sore eyes. I'd rather stick with such setup rather than use oculus, because it looks and feels way more immersive imo. Not like I'm gonna get/build one tho.
