Smallest cameras for travel that can change lenses for bokeh with EVF viewfinder and hot shoe for off camera flash that are lightweight and small are covered here. These are my absolute favorites so much that I have many of the same one. These are micro four thirds, APSC and 1" sensor with small fast lenses for blurry background that weigh very little. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it. Note- most of these cameras are no longer made so the best place to look for them is ebay etc.

@@vueport99 I reeeeally want to buy a digital camera which has just a little better video and picture quality than a devent smartphone. I have the Samsung A71, I'd love to get a device that has the same camera setup but just a little better and is as small as a smartphone or a little smaller. Idk much about hardware but I just assume if they're making the hardware to only serve taking and viewing pictures and videos it wouldn't need as much space. Give me a mixture of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's camera setup and Samsung Galaxy A71 setup (I love the macro camera!) and make the tiny cameras just a tiny bit better and I'd absolutely buy that. Sometimes we want to just go hiking or go on a trip and not have a smartphone on us but also not carry a bulky camera. Cameras as small and thin as to fit inside a pocket or be easily fitted inside a smaller backpack on a whim just don't seem to take pictures as good as smartphones do... maybe for hobby photographers who like to edit afterwards, but not for people who just want to snap. Idk...

@@essennagerry sadly budget point and shoot cameras as a category has been killed off by phones. And for obvious reasons! Cuz it'll cost way more, and not give you any advantage other than a continuous optical zoom. Also, most people carry a phone already. So the argument for of carrying another device is weak. So stick with your A series phones or if you want, get the FE (Fan Edition) version of the latest Galaxy

This was a fun video! I love old cameras, have a small collection of old film models going back to the early 1900s, but now I'll make a list of these in your video and start enjoying some older digital cameras by haunting garage sales and such. The smaller cameras are so much fun for travel and daily carry, and have control that phone cameras just physically cannot replicate...yet! EDIT: I found your list--and links!--in the description, thanks, now I just need to execute.

My first camera was the Panasonic GF1, a micro four thirds system. Its compact size, especially with the pancake lens, made it easy for me to carry everywhere. It introduced me to the world of photography, a passion I had never considered before. While I currently shoot with a full-frame mirrorless camera, I sometimes find myself missing the convenience of a compact interchangeable camera that I could have with me at all times.

I still have a few M43rds bodies, but I still miss the GF1... it was truly a great little camera to shoot with, and I liked the feel and the quality better than the newer Olys and Panas that eventually replaced it when the shutter (with thousands upon thousands upon thousands of actuations on it) finally gave up the ghost.

Try one and you'll be hooked. Olympus has really good color science. Proper fullframe user doesn't always shoot wide open anyway. Using MFT is like using lens in permanent f4 (assuming you use f1.8-ish MFT lens). Olympus lens Bokeh isn't over the top as well, it has the right amount of characteristics.

I've had everything from Pentax to Fuji and Minolta to Leica over the years since the film days...I've just now come around to micro four thirds and I have to say...it's more than enough camera for 99% of people whether they would choose to admit it or not. I picked up the Lumix GX85 while it was on sale and came with two kit lenses. I added the Lumix 20mm f1.7 ll lens and it's truly spectacular in results for a fraction of the price of many other camera systems and brands. I wish I would have gotten into these types of cameras sooner. My other camera have literally just sat in the bag since I got the Lumix and now I'm looking at other bodies out there like the Olympus-OM cameras, the PanaLeica lenses, etc. What a blast to use!

Congratulations on the GX85 purchase. A killer deal with the two zooms. I bought the GX85 for street photography. So good for stills & video. Then bought the PL15. Recently Craigslisted the P20 pancake and 25 lenses. Like the body, small and lightweight. The lenses are sharp and fast. Bought the GX9. Incremental improvements. Not a necessary as an upgrade. I do love the L monochrome D B&W jpeg not available on the GX85. Panasonic, why disable these bodies and not include an audio jac? Just purchased a GX8 from a local camera store. A little bigger and heavier than the GX85/9 but not that noticeable. Weather sealed. It does have an audio jac. It has the flip out screen I don’t like. 8/85/9. All great bodies. @jpdj2715
@jpdj2715 11 ай бұрын
As an old film fart who shot formats up to 8" * 10", I have to say that none of the film simulations in the digital domain that I am aware of, realistically look like film. This has two aspects: (a) grain, (b) character as in gradation, contrast envelope (the dynamic range available in a single shot), colour palette. Both (a) and (b) were under influence of processing chemistry as well as process, too. If I wanted a film simulation for (a) I would probably revert to post processing. If for (b), I would try to code my own profiles that my camera uses for in-camera raw processing. I can create in-cameras profiles, can save them to card, and import them in another camera (all the same brand). I guess I am talking about the price of your arm and your leg, though ;)

I have 2 Canon R6s. Love them cameras. But like you, I wanted something compact that I could bring along everywhere I go. In the past I had a Fujifilm X100T, a FANTASTIC camera. I love it so much. BUT, i felt limited with the fixed lens. So a small package with interchangeable lenses was a must for the next camera. It took me a long time. Priorities were always work gear, not fun gear. But I got tired of hauling a large body and huge lenses everywhere, plus, it calls other people attention. Since the M6 was released I felt in love with the design and specs. But, again, priorities were gear for work. Besides, the M6 was expensive. It was until recently that a M6bMark ii was published at a unbelievable price. I first though it was a scam. So I called the guy, asked him for a video conference and all. And finally got my beloved M6. It was just the body and could just afford the Canon 22 f2. I know it's discontinued, I know it's older tech and that my R6s are way better cameras, but in the last 3 or 4 months since I got the M6 I have taken 2-1 more photos with it that with the R6. I take it with me every day when I walk my dogs at the park. And even left the second R6 home and took the M6 as a second body to an event, and I loved the results. Lenses are cheap (compared to RF lenses, of course) but can't afford more lenses right now. I have my eye in some 7Artisans and Laowa. so... soon, I hope. It's incredible that you can have a camera and 3 lenses, plus accessories and more, in a small bag. Perfect for traveling. I'm looking forward for Canon releasing a RF camera with the form factor of the M6

Markus, I think your 5 lens(!) setup can be replicated with a 2 lens setup on a RV / RIV type camera This may end up taking even less space in your bag, on top of having better image quality 1) Your 56/1.4 has equivalent bokeh to an 85/2 on apsc mode -> You can use a 85/1.8 in apsc mode to replicate it 2) Your 45/1.8 is equivalent bokeh to 90/3.5 on FF -> We use the same 85/1.8 in FF mode and crop slightly to replicate it. You can crop slightly with clear image zoom in-camera since you use jpegs. 3) Your 25/.95 has equivalent bokeh to 35/1.4 in apsc mode -> We use a 35/1.4GM to replicate it in apsc mode 4) 25/1.8 (same as #3) 5) Your 15/1.7 can almost be replicated with the 35GM in FF mode (30mm vs 35mm equivalent)

Markus, thanks for another great video. This video shows great results for MFT system which some people deem as not good. I went to your "Lenses" playlist and I did not saw a video with the best and worst MFT lenses, there is one for APS-C but not for MFT, I would like to watch a video like that with your selection of the best and worst MTF lenses. Edit: yes, there is one of MFT for vlogging but not for pics.

Great video as always. I have two things to say 1) Try the Sony Nex 5t, it's the smallest sony E mount camera and works very well. It's smaller than the a5100 and the smallest of all Sony APSC cameras. It's near the size of the Panasonic GM1 and you can attach an external viewfinder 2) It surprise me that you haven't tried the Fujifilm line. They have small great cameras (XE line and basic XA line). Now they have the XS20 that it's small enough to travel without concern about size. And Fuji have small lenses too

Have fun taking photographs of the things you love. A phone will suffice. I like a small digital camera. Good enough is good enough. There aren’t any bad cameras being manufactured now. Old cameras that took good images continue to do so. There are a lot of very performant older cameras at surprisingly affordable prices if you want a digital camera body & lenses. There are a lot of things you can do with your camera phone. Have fun with your photography. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

The M 200 was picked up on Prime Day for el cheapo. In manual, this has produced some remarkable pictures with a cheap M lens. Very easy to use and the live view is terrific. The 5100 while good in its own right was good, but the Canon IMHO killed the 5100. Also a big fan of Olympus and a really big fan of my Lumix GF7. Purchased for around 100 Washingtons. Bargain of the year!

PentaxQ 98 x 57 x 31 mm (186) Lumix GM1 99 x 55 x 30 mm (184) Yeah it's cute, but that tiny low rez camcorder sensor is a deal breaker. Compared to Micro four thirds that sensor is a speck. No viewfinder, no touch screen, no face detection, no huge selection of lenses like M43 has, but yes its a cute camera.

I always appreacate your vidoes on small interchangable lenns carmers. I'd like to see you review the Leica TL or Leica TL2, It's been a few year on those; I also wish that they would come out with an update, becasue the concept seems neat and perhaps like it could have been ahead of its time, at the time.

Markus, I have a NX Mini, but didn't realize until after I bought it that the 9-27mm lenses OFTEN fail. Then, as you mentioned, the NX lens adapter is impossible to find for sale. So, I found a company in Belarus making a c-mount adapter, then I got a c-mount to Minolta MD mount adapter on top of that and put my very old Minolta lenses on it. Works well, but all manual. I can still use P, A, S and M. I took out the infrared filter and got a Kolari Vision IR Chrome filter and that's what I use it for now. You wouldn't be giving one of those NX Mini's away anytime soon now would you? Would love to get my hands on either the 9mm or 16mm fixed lens so I don't have the same issues with another broken zoom.

Simply awesome, Markus! I'm so surprised the Olympus won it because you haven't really said that many good things about them. You might actually prefer the E-M10 iv as it's the same size, but it's lighter, has a faster sync, great colors, 20MP, flip-up and down screen and great video.

The GR is a very powerful camera. How they jammed an APSC sensor plus IBIS into that body is a miracle. Fixed 28mm lens except for the GRiiiX which is a fixed 40mm lens. No EVF which is a turn off for me. The lens is very sharp. Very crunchy B&W jpeg. Tiny battery means bring more than one with you. Ricoh has stopped taking orders for the GRiii(X). It is getting long in the tooth. Maybe a new model to complete with the X100VI is in the offering. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
