The suggestion for switching to battery power is absolutely genius! I've been having a nightmare figuring out the flicker issues with my studio lights. I ended up switching the lights to a battery charged system and everything is perfection now. I seriously appreciate you taking the time to make this.

Wow! Been looking for how to avoid banding or flickering while setting up an overhead shoot. I wanted to record a video of me doing something on my phone, but the flicker just won't let the video be great. Little did I know that the power source was the determining factor. Thanks so much for this video. And thanks for the soundtrack too. It has this "don't worry, cheer up" vibe.

YOU Markus are a lifesaver! I just bought a Canon Eos M200 as my beginner camera for video production for youtube. I ended up listening to another KZbin on the perfect settings for streaming and had the camera set at 1/125. I set up my new led lights for lighting and have duel monitors running while the camera is set up on a tripod in the center. All of a sudden, when I tried to work on a video last night, I saw a visible flicker after I turned on the 2nd TV. I've been wracking my brain for the last day, trying to figure out what it could be. YOU were spot on! Thanks for being out here and doing the things you do!

I greatly appreciate your assistance! I recently acquired a DSLR camera and, in my excitement, I was haphazardly filming the streets of Tokyo at 60fps during the nighttime. Thanks to your valuable insights, I've identified the issue and adjusted both the region setting and frame rate to 50fps. Your video tutorial was incredibly clear and easy to follow, and I'm genuinely grateful for your willingness to share this knowledge!

I’ve struggled finding info on these issues that have real time examples and comparisons of the problem. This video was great to show the progression of issues and solutions clearly. The one specific thing mentioned here Ive never seen or read is how a FACTOR of a countries respective frequency can be another option. So 1/60 OR 1/120 in the states can help, but not 1/240. It this nuanced tip that’s missing from so many articles out there, that usually just generically say to lower your shutter speed with little to no context. Thanks so much for this video!

Yes like I said- anti-flicker settings on some cameras are actually just anti-aliasing filters (sometimes called low pass filters) to soften the effect of striped shirts or other receptive designs "flickering" but not electrical lights

Uhuh so it also depends on the power hertz where you’re shooting. I was following the 180, 360 degree rule for FPS and shutter speed but my camera keeps having banding when I am on 30fps and I put the shutter speed to 1/60. Now I understand why it doesn’t have banding when I put the shutter speed to 1/50 or 1/100. Thank you for explaining this.

Thank you for your video Markus! Have you tried using "Aputure" LED? When I use different models of Aputure LED to shoot videos or take pictures with electronic shutters, there will be this kind of Banding and Flicker, which mainly occurs at 1/800s or faster shutter speeds. Have you experienced this? Do you think it can be solved? I have used WellMaking, Zhiyun, Nanlite... , none of these Banding and Flicker at 1/8000s shutter

Sadly when I set manual to1/50 and ISO 50 it's just way too bright and over exposed. I can't say ISO lower than 50. Also, i can't set shutter speed to 1 1/100. Only 1/90 or 1/120 is closest to it. Any other way I can do this besides getting battery powered lights? Really want to use my mains LED lights. Thank you anyone in advance.

This is an older video I know but it did help, thank you. The issue is, I am getting a slight banding effect when shooting product review videos. I mainly notice it when I do cuts during editing. Of course that brought my attention to the darker areas of my background and once I saw it, it was like a sore thumb, can't help but see it now. I do have a LED light mounted on the AC vent cover but after watching your video here, I think I will try plugging that light into a DC power box. Can't use it for camping right now (105f in Texas) so I might as well use it to power my light. Hopefully that helps. Thank you for all you do for us not so smart folks.

You were not only able to explain this, but also catch it like a true magician 😂. In order word, my shutter speed has to meet the frequency of the led
