And now we are 8 years ahead waiting for a remastered version plus a part 4, maybe to the roots? I whish they keep this great sound tracks tones. Dead space series were great for all in game sound.

Yep, the whole soundtrack is great especially this one, tone of desperation, it really got me after I played trough the game and then replayed the beginning, the sad story of Tim, you can learn more about his story if you listen to the recordings scattered around. He was just a private doing what he was told...

Dead Space 2 is a splendid game, and finally, I've just started the DS3, and I think, that soundtrack in this part will create great atmosphere :)

This is exactly what I was looking for. The visual with the music alone. Great upload! This opening theme is incredible. A shame the game was not quite as good as this intro promised.

No one: Tim not even near the ship yet: Me: Oh no.
You have very valid points, the only problem is that I have not played Gears of War, nor Silent Hill (I live under a pretty big rock). I wish I could say more but you are right in a lot of ways. The only thing I can say as a counter-example is that hasn't all of the games been around the basis of walking into rooms > fightings nercomorphs > moving on to the next. Now I am not insulting the game in any way, it is what I love the most about it. I'm not saying I'm right, it's just my opinion.

Why are people complaining about the story in DS3 so much? .... at least it HAS one opposed to just "Run fool RUN! and destroy the marker!"... DS1 and 2 didn't actually have any story.... it was pure survival horror... which was perfect and fine... but you can only repeat that so much before it gets boring. I think Visceral were smart about this... and yeah it's cliche save the world. We play so many games/watch so many movies these days it's all cliche.

I think the story of his partner (Sam, if you play Prologue in Coop) is much more dark, sad, and tragic. He was the only one of his platoon to survive, escaping Necromorphs, madness, starvation, and being forced to trap his former comrades. Then he's contacted by Serano, joins Tim to find the Codex, only to get buried in the avalanche. Had he made it out instead of Tim, history might have been very different...

I agree on the story part though, for sure. I think the problem is that they wasted too much time on things players don't care about. The characters weren't bad, but I wasn't necessarily surprised or impacted by their deaths at all. That and the love triangle thing. I feel like they spent too much time playing Norton up as an antagonist too. Otherwise, a very solid game.

Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion but I would have to say that this was the best of them all. I do prefer the benches and the armour in the other two though, plus I found the beginning Necromorps a little cheesy. I did like the storyline in this one more though, it seemed more like a quest than blindly walking around fixing stuff unlike the other games. This is obviously my opinion, hate it or like it.

Well, you've still gotta give credit where it's due. Visceral tried something new that they thought would be a success. All it really is is a matter of opinion. Some people prefer the first 2 games, some prefer all the games.

Shame they didn't reuse the bland, 90% gray, 10% brown environment of the Ishimura for the whole game. That and the fact that they didn't decrease replay value really disappointed me. I really missed the clunky controls of the first one.

I agree with you on that. It just doesn't live up to the standards set by its predecessors. This stupid love triangle isn't as engaging as one would hope, and the story drags and is boring most of the time. I hated the ship section at the start of the game, where you have to find parts. It's so dull.

I'm on Chapter 13, and just so disappointed. There are many sections, like the stupid vertical climbing sections and tedious backtracking for the first three and a half hours of the game, that really kill it. The boss fights are disappointing, the enemies are excessive and cheap, and the level design is now predictable. The game is completely devoid of scares, thrills or atmosphere. The weapon crafting is great, though, and the graphics and sound are excellent, especially this outstanding score.
