I think you're missing the point. The Sena 50C is primarily an intercom with a BONUS feature of having an in-built camera. I could understand your arguments or point IF it was just a camera, but we're talking about an intercom here with an added built-in camera AND Sena are the only ones that offer that. It's a niche product. You should be arguing from the POV that it's an intercom first and foremost and camera second, instead you've argued that the camera image stabilization and low light quality is poor, coming from the point of view where you've just focused on the camera like it's something commonly found on an intercom. Bit uninformative considering that.

There are numerous intercoms with additional cams. Most aren't that great, but r3 from freedconn isn't bad for a quarter of the price. Sena video quality is excellent in comparison mind.

@@ScoutsOut As a counterpoint, I viewed it as a replacement for the gopro / communicator bundle that most people look at getting, and you've very accurately shown that it's a horribly expensive communicator with a shitty camera on it lol. I didn't think the video was uninformative at all, it addressed what probably 80% of the people searching for this thing on youtube are trying to figure out.

U gotta put the micprohne sensitivity on high if you also wanna hear your engine and outside noise. Atleast thats what helped in my experience

Hard to say between 1080 and 4K both have been good and bad for me so far, but I agree with the eis not being worth using

Nice one Scout... Not ideal for Moto Vloggers... But I cam see a lot of potential there for more of a "dash cam" type role... And like you said... Catching those random events that would otherwise have been missed when your traditional cam isn't with you... Nice review as always mate.

We picked up one mainly to capture the dual audio. I have used a small clip in one of our videos, but the quality isn't good at all. Especially compared to a gopro. For some reason, the video we recorded doesn't look nearly as good as what you recorded. I have it set to 1080 with EIS turned on.

I just found this video when checking out the 50C. I would like to do a similar setup to your GoPro/Road Lav mic setup for when Im drag racing. I'm hoping to be able to communicate with my dad while he is staging me then hear me race etc. Just curious if you ever use that setup to communicate with others while riding?

@@ScoutsOut searching the web says up to 22 hours with BT intercom, up to 12 hours with mesh communication, and 1 hour and 40 minutes of video. saying "a week or so" doesn't help anyone, as nobody knows how much time you spend riding. my Sena SMH10 should be able to do up to 14 hours of BT intercom, but I can easily charge it every 2nd day of riding, as I'm listening to music or talking in phone calls most of the time. anyway, I'm going to buy either the 50C or 50S, because I really want mesh and the HK sound, as I love listening to music when driving, and being able to use open mesh on long rides would be awesome in case someone else is in the same channel as me

Thanks for breaking down and sharing, great review! My wife gave me one for Christmas, have yet to unbox it, I want to make sure its a good fit for my purpose. So my takeaway is, for someone like me, who will primarily use the unit for music, gps commands, communication and memorializing portions of my Adventure Ride to the Northwest National Parks this summer, the Sena 50C would be a good fit? Any challenges/concerns with the amount of battery life, storage or downloading? And my apologies for what may seem to be ignorant questions, I'm not at all savvy when it comes to video technology, would you recommend to bring along a laptop or device to download the video while on a 4 to 6 week trip or just simply store the SD cards and work on downloading upon my return? And if you recommend the latter, can one review video through the app to insure that a video clip, one that you may want to really make certain you captured, has in fact been captured without any problems/issues? ...thanks and again, my apologies if my questions seem ignorant, I'm just looking for some knowledge & guidance.

Thank you. Yes that about sums it up, it will bring home some small amounts of ok footage to remember your rides and give you good music and coms. The battery life has been pretty decent but it is new and as all of the sena’s ive owned the battery fads quicker as time goes on. As for a long journey with a bunch of footage, the safe way is to download it on to your computer. You can review the footage through the app to check the clips just remember if you are going with the multiple SD card or download to your laptop always format the SD card before use even if its a new card and even if you erase the card on your computer after you download the footage. Hope this helps, sounds like you have one hell of a fun adventure coming up cheers!

I would advise you not to get the 20s. The speaker quality was terrible, and comms wasn't great but not terrible. I got the 50s and was a night and day difference between the sound and comms quality. It's also so much easier to link up as well.

hello I'm a big fan, I started watching your content due to having a Yamaha r7 myself, one quick question, i just recently changed the stock exhaust to a full yoshimura system aftermarket exhaust like the one that you have on your r7, my question is, do i have to tune it or it is not required since is only the exhaust, if so would you recommend a dynoyet powercommander 6 on it? or do the ecu flash like you did?, however if i haven't changed the air filter element is it still required to tune it?

I’ve been told even with the exhaust and dna set that your not going to hurt the bike if you don’t tune it. As for the tune I would recommend sending the ecu in to be flashed it’s just an easier process and will give you good results.

nice, I'm currently at 14k now, however i think they are the same spark plugs since at the 8k mile i took it to the dealer to service yet apparently there was no need to replace them, and at the 12k one i did not checked them when i did the service on my own, still turns on solid lol@@ScoutsOut

I had the 10S, later I had the 10c evo and know I was surprised to discover that 50c is probably the worst of them 😅. I was thinking that mine could be working bad, but actually no, is just worst quality than previous generations. My testing videos are so poor as yours, 10c evo is much better

Do you no whether the 50c can record phone conversations between motorcyclists while recording video? I've not seen any reviews mentioning this. To me that would be a big plus since not all motorcyclists are going to have MESH and there might be times you would be out of range of MESH when recording video and conversations.

A mismatched can make sync issues, the audio video may not line up correctly

​@@ScoutsOut That's only if you don't match the clips to the timeline. The audio track has nothing to do with framerate. You could record in 24 fps and 60 fps and the audio is still the same. You just need to import the audio separately. Audio is sampled at a rate of 44100, 48000, 96000, 192000, 384000 or 768000 samples per second or Hz.

The Sena 50 C is junk in my opinion! The bluetooth connection is maybe, sometimes. Maybe sometimes, it connects...maybe it doesn't! Updating the thing is stupid! The custom cord it comes with works at times, and sometimes it doesn't! Grab a normal USB C and try that...again...maybe sometimes! I spent a crapload of money on a device that won't work about half the time!

So the bulk of this video is on the gopro, yes? I was confused at first. Initially i was super impressed with the image stabilization. Then the clips from the sena were super disappointing. I have had senas without stabilization and don’t want another. I like the audio bloothout and all in one package, the but the shakiness it is a total let down. At $550, i can’t stomach what we get. Thank you for the demo and saving me buyer remorse…
