The guy who looks in the camera at 8:33 and is cutting right after is the big boss. He is very interesting. Decided to start doing this job when he was in college at 22 yrs old, went all in and never looked back. Now he buys and sells millions in fish a day at this market.

I was very fortunate when my wife and I visited Tokyo and got a chance to eat sushi at Sukiyabashi Jiro in Ghinza (reservation is required). I must say, it was probably the best sushi I've ever tasted in my entire life. Chef Jiro Ono himself and his son were the ones who served us at the time. We were very lucky. Will definitely come back!

I think it is because if you start to make sushi at home, you start to wonder why the sushi chefs have to train so long. If you give me the ingredients, then where is the challenge? Form the rice, use a really good knife to cut the fish, put them together with some wasabi and really good natural brewed salt reduced soy sauce. I have a similar roll to make maki like in the video. Where is there please an "incredible skill"? Of you want to see real skill, watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnmccouderyDhdk That's a myth to let people pay absurd amounts of money. For example, a dry aged 550g porterhouse steak (pure Austrian meat) is just waiting for tonight to get a nice Sous Vice treatment, then gets seared with hot butter and served with red baked potatoes and green beans wrapped in bacon. That's about 25€ of ingredients and tastes and looks like a 60-70€ restaurant treat. I can train you to do that in half a day. And I am not a chef, trained 100% myself and my guest are always stunned "I could never do that". Yes, you can, don't let them fool you.

It’s literally raw fish on rice, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
@donarthiazi24432 жыл бұрын
@@yurmamsaho Exactly. People are tripping over themselves to post a comment telling everyone how "skillful" the food is prepared. Nah, it's raw seafood and little else. It looks totally unappetizing. Yes, I realize that I gotta be wrong... but at 14:05 in the video that's what it seems to be. I'll watch the rest now, but so far it looks pretty bad.

Bassmanwcm How can just raw fish make people react like that? Japanese food may be delicious or it’s more likely to be unacceptable especially for those who taste it for the first time. I think Japanese food is just a show to some extent. If your purpose is to find the best flavor, the answer is no way. If you want to experience a piece of art, just go and get it.
