I have been watching this channel since 2021 and have been following the workouts. I still find these "aha!" moments even now with the content you put out. Thank you for your effort and patience!

Love this. Been working this exercise in the Basis of Strength program. Every time you break one of these movements down, I pick up new insights from the coaching cues. Thank you for helping me discover a life free from constant back pain!!

You are without question the best teacher, mentor and coach. Your attention to the details and the way in which you convey your knowledge is highly empathetic and incredibly relatable. Thank you!

I’m going to try incorporating this with a 16kg kettlebell (no clubs). Thx

That will probably be pretty hard on you. You’ll notice clubs are substantially lighter than kettlebellers for a reason a 35 pound club would be an advanced weight

Would kettlebell halos offer similar over-all core benefits compared to the heavy club front press?

Thanks for explaining the reason for kneeling for this exercise. I find this position painful though, can I still benefit from it if I do it standing up?

No, stop trying.

There is benefit from doing it standing up. It targets the core and lower back if you don't flare your ribs and keep your glutes engaged. For what it's worth from this random commentator, I'd work on the standing version of this exercise and address fixing the pain you feel in the lunge position separately. There's so many things that could be causing your pain but as a starting point, try to see if you can hold and calmly deep breathe in both lunge positions for as long as you can stay in the slight discomfort region on your personal pain scale. If you have to make a pirate face because of pain so to speak, try elevating the back leg on something comfortable and gradually lower down over successive training sessions. Good luck and definitely keep trying! You got this!

@@maxpower8052 Thanks for your elaborate answer. I'm very overweight, any stance is painful at this point for me but kneeling is simply impossible.

Doing a hanging row loads the core the same as the front press does. A pushup loads the front of the core, much as many of the club and mace exercises does. Doing these exercises gives you a plank exercise and a reverse plank exercise for free! Where clubs and maces shine, in my opinion, is for loading the core sideways, and rotating. These things I don't get as easy in my regular gym exercices. My favorites for this are right now the gravedigger with a mace, and low to high swing with a heavy club. I expect to see some changes in the obliques soon! So, front presses? Nah!

Doing a front press, especially in a squat, causes some pain at the front of the shoulder. My guess is a shoulder mobility issue. Does anyone have any experience with this?

We all can’t be like you with a 19incher that you can bent behind you, into your recktum, and get an erektshun to straighten our backs out. I got a 12er that can get into the sphinct, but pops out when I direct blood flow there :-/
