I remember watching this as a kid when I still believed everything in wrestling. I only saw the match between X-Pac and Vampiro, I marked out so hard for the Tombstone spot. I tried to watch it again the next week but something else was on and I never saw it again until years later on the Internet.

The dvd set was great because it featured the web shows which featured full matches. Loved WSX. Yeah it was a spotfest but it offered something different than what the WWE were doing at the time. Was something of a precursor to Lucha Underground.

Genki Horiguchi's hairline was actually part of his gimmick. He was the first of the original Toryumon dojo guys to start balding, and fans would taunt him chanting "HAGE! HAGE!" meaning "bald" at him, and getting indignant about this with a "WHO HAS CALLED ME HAGE??!?!?!" catchphrase and trying various haircut means of self-denial became part of what he was known for.

It was originally supposed to be an hour. There was a shake up a Viacom and MTV show had to be 30 min so u could get to 22 episodes earlier. 22 episodes qualify as a season in American TV. Life in a DVD driven world.

Fun fact: human tornado was in the movie nacho libre Boy xpw and pwg influence was all over the show. I will say this wsx wasn’t terrible but the editing and 30 minutes (which remembers had commercials) was not enough time. Sad we will never see the unedited stuff from the shows.

Here's a few ways (off the top of my head) that could've made WSX survive at least a bit longer: --1) Hour-long episodes instead of 30 minutes. --2) No explosions/crappy effects. --3) Air it late Friday/Saturday nights. --4) Kicks and punches.

Fun fact, he had a whole character arc about being insecure about that in Dragon Gate after crowds started chanting "H-A-G-E" (spelling out the Japanese word for "bald") at him. And then he starting having just about the weirdest hairstyle in wrestling history. Shaved most of his head, but kept a ponytail at the back, braided it and dyed it rainbow-coloured. Also his finisher is a backslide, it's awesome. (Genki Horiguchi is in my Boy Stable)

There was Another WSX show called WSX Extra with off the air matches. some of the wrestlers that apeared were Seth Rollins, Jimmy Jacobs, Colt Cabana or Scorpio Sky. Also i Heard that a producer wanted PAC (Neville in WWE) and el Genérico (Sami Zayn) for The season 2 that never came along with a new title belt with a similar concept to TNA's X Division

Loved WSX, such a weird concept but awesome at the same time...for what I have read, the show was supposed to be an hour long, biut MTV decided after everything was taped for it to be 1/2 an hour, so that´s why the editing is so crazy. For example the had to fit a ten minute match into three minutes and that made the pace of the show suffer.

The guy you affectionately called Steve-O is Joey Kaos from XPW. He runs a wrestling school in Bell Gardens in Los Angeles County, California. I trained there for a couple months but quit because I ended up getting this job I really wanted and couldn’t dedicate the time to wrestling school. Joey’s a cool guy tho. Very passionate about wrestling.

It’s so interesting seeing Kris Kloss here since i only ever knew he as the XPW commentator, which for those who don’t know XPW is trying to make a comeback. They’ve had two shows one back in November of 2021 and one recently on the 9th of April i heard the November show was good but never checked it I haven’t heard anything about the April show yet. I’ve met Kris twice at the same indy show not to far from me, he’s a pretty chill dude even signed the promotional flyers the show gave everyone for free his commentary is so-so at times.

The co-promoter of WSX was a former XPW employee who had since picked up the company rights after Rob Black went down so that's how they got some of those guys to participate in WSX and also why there were a few XPW reunion shows a few years later.

Wrestling Society Ass was like something you'd see the characters in a sci-fi movie set in the distant future watching on TV. There's a later match where they added so much CGI to a thrown fireball it looked like the wrestler had f*ckin' superpowers! And at that point, why the hell not? After an exploding casket, might as well hadouken that sh*t. I feel kinda bad for the wrestlers. For all we know, they could have been having barnstormers but there's no way to tell with the crystal meth editing. Whoever was in charge of that can shuv it.

This was the pinnacle of Jack Evans career. He was really good here. He was also very good in Lucha Underground. He’s kind of fallen off in the last couple years in AEW.

Out of all the small guys WWE picked up pre-NXT days, I’m shocked that they never got Jack Evans. He seemed more of a good fit than Matt Sydal, Low-Ki or even Bryan Danielson because he had the breakdancing/hip-hop gimmick. He seemed more marketable than those guys and could just as many crazy flips/bumps.

As an old person I do want to point out that MTV had stopped playing music videos long before 2007 and we definitely had high speed internet then too because I was working at Starbucks at the time and I was broke so I used to torrent everything I wanted to watch. I had no idea this show ever existed though which is crazy. I used to go to ECW shows and got to talk to Justin Credible a few times after the shows. He's a really nice guy in real life. Talked to New Jack once too. He was nice but I was terrified of him because of Mass Transit so I mostly avoided him lol

I honestly think it was screwed from the start. It has pretty good matches and everyone seem to be enjoying themselves. But doing all that in under 30 minutes means they couldn't get anything across well. If they had an hour, i think it would be much better.
