This turned out to be one of the craziest video that The Hawk has made in a while. In 2006 Billy Gunn & The Road Dogg decided to relive their New Age Outlaws days from the WWF attitude era. They formed a new tag team called the Voodoo Kin Mafia and they would somehow feud with DX Triple H & Shawn Michaels. The feud involved VPM invading Titan Towers and WWE Raw house shows.

I met road dogg and billy Gunn at a show in March last year and I asked road dogg if I could ask him a question off the record and he leaned away from billy and said sure and I asked “looking back at your career, what is your opinion on your time in TNA?” And road dogg said “it was a lot of fun, I got to work with a lot of good talent, Jeff (Jarrett) gave me a chance when no one else would and I’ll always appreciate him for it, but it was a dark point in my life and I was going through a lot of personal problems and I couldn’t contribute as much as I wish I could.” Pretty solid answer and this video makes the whole “dark point in my life” thing make sense. I assumed it must’ve been pills since lots of attitude era stars got hooked on pain pills from injuries

I always seen this attempt as they putting way to much focus on what the WWE was doing and mentioning them at every turn. For me if you have to constantly mention others and say how much better you are all the time it comes across as you are trying to convince yourself as much as those watching. That's the problem with this kind of booking. WWE is THE name in wrestling, in the US at least for the majority of people. Constantly mentioning WWE, even if you're putting it down, just reminds people that they're NOT watching WWE. And, for most people that means they're watching some small time also ran. Taking a shot at the big E gets a pop from your fans sure, but in the long its not going to bring anyone new in and it just reinforces that your product is bush league in comparison. Its much better to focus on your own strengths and your own product than to constantly compare yourself to the biggest name in the industry.

I think the lead gets buried on this angle a bit. The name chosen "Voodoo Kin Mafia" imo is James & Gunn implying something more about the McMahon family. Much like people have also implied about other celebrity figures such as Jennifer Lopez and Sean Combs for example.

The reason it was called the Voodoo Kin Mafia was just to make it so the initials of it spelt the initials of Vincent Kennedy Mcmahon mate

Love how The Hawk said that Billy Gunn's career was "Winding down" at this point; meanwhile he is in the midst of his "Daddy Ass" run in AEW rn and is arguably his best one and also he's in the best shape of his life at this point.

1:20 Are those "No Introduction Needed" shirts merch for the stable they were in or something? Don't they know the initials NIN are already pretty much synonymous with Nine Inch Nails? For a second, I honestly thought Billy Gunn was wearing a Nine Inch Nails shirt, and was thinking to myself "dude has better music taste than I expected".
