Samuel shaw competes on ring of the hawk today to make you spray. His gimmick was that of a stalker if Christie hemme but what was his actual wrestling ability like?

I met Sam Shaw back in 07 in a wrestling school in Atlanta. I got to talk to him in a few conversations and genuinely liked the guy and hoped he would have success in the world of wrestling. Now, in 2021, I may not have realized my dream of being a pro wrestler, but I'm happy he found his by working for WWE under NXT. I'm a big fan of his style of wrestling and his Dexter Lumis persona.

The problem with Samuel Shaw is as interesting as that gimmick can be it has a pretty short shelf life after the storyline with Christy
@Daxter-hl7dw2 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, I think it's ALMOST like Kane or Bray Wyatt where the character can have a feud with anyone and justify it well enough. The problem is somewhat similar to Wyatt where he was booked to lose often, but also add in that he was booked against someone with great Mic Skills in Anderson who basically burnt him down. They could've saved it had they made Shaw a proper genius monster heel but the Anderson feud he was just too dumbed down. The goofy antics and gimmick matches didn't help much either.
@CaptainCanuck19752 жыл бұрын
I liked when Anderson went to Sam Shaw's house and Sam's mother gave Anderson a tour of the place.
@helliongrimm36152 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with his character work being great. I only got glimpses of his character from Impact's youtube channel and from that it really got me intrigued. He came across as a combination of Dexter Morgan and Patrick Bateman. I'm not so sure that making his first storyline being that of an obsessed stalker and also putting him against Ken Anderson was the best idea. There's goofy elements of his Dexter Lumis character, and it's so weird to me that he's portrayed as a babyface, but at least the Lumis character gets the whole sociopath thing down. Also, Anderson is always an entertaining and funny promo, but it's almost like a nail in a coffin to put him against someone you want to portray as threatening and scary. It takes away the suspense and unsettling vibe when someone is basically tearing the character and person apart in every match and promo. Side note: I liked that his theme was influenced by the Kavinsky song "Nightcall." in fact, there's been a couple of people who have done mashups of Shaw's Impact them and the Nightcall song and they're pretty good.

You should do a "Ring of the Hawk" video on Rodney Mack. He had 17 matches on Raw in 2003. Highlights include The White Boy Open Challenge, a 30 second Goldberg squash, and a championship battle royal of some sorts which was his only match (on major television) in 2004. He was a member of DA Baldies in the original ECW named Red Dogg in 2000. You might be able to do a second video on that brief run as well, cheers 🍻 and thanks for the content 👍

So, here's how I I would've booked the whole storyline with Samuel Shaw, Mr. Anderson, and Christy Hemme: Have Shaw debut as a babyface. He has the type of personality that anyone can get along with him. In the meanwhile, have Mr. Anderson be a heel at this point in time. For a few months, have Shaw racking up wins all the while establishing him as a friendly and engaging babyface who everyone likes, even some of the heels... except Mr.Anderson, who constantly is very open about his dislike about him. At some point, Shaw starts to make the moves on Hemme, who shows she has an interest in him as well. Eventually, Shaw asks Hemme to go on a date with him, to which she agrees. Before she leaves, Mr. Anderson again comments that he thinks something is off about Shaw, but Hemme brushes him off. Shaw and Hemme go on the date, and at the end it is seems like it was a pretty good date, and Hemme leaves happy with the night. A couple of weeks later, Shaw asks if Hemme would like to have dinner at his house, to which she agrees. Mr. Anderson again, goes to Christy and expresses his concern about her going with Shaw. That same night, Anderson comes across what appears to be a giant shrine of random women who all look like Hemme with they're eyes scratched out in Shaw's dressing room. He quickly rushes to Hemme and brings her to show her what he found. At that point, Shaw appears, now dressed in his Dexter inspired gear with a chloroform rag and knocks Mr. Anderson out using his choke submission finisher. But, before he can grab Hemme, security steps in and prevents him from taking her. At this point, the facade is dropped and Shaw now starts to wear his Dexter gear and doing that choke submission to wrestlers. As the months, pass there is several close calls in which he almost able to get Hemme, but Anderson or someone else is able to stop him. Also, they never outright say what Shaw's intentions are, but obviously the implication is that of a dangerous serial killer. Finally, the blow-off would come when Hemme offers the proposal that Shaw have a final match with Mr. Anderson. If Shaw wins than Henme will go with him to his house, but if Anderson wins than Shaw would never be able to be around Christy Hemme again, and if he broke that he would forever be banned from professional wrestling. Shaw agrees, but says he wants the match to happen at his house. Finally, at the pay per view. Mr. Anderson and Shaw have a match at Shaw's house. The house is made to look dilapidated and across it are various instruments of torture. The ending of the match sees Shaw knock Mr. Anderson out at which point Christy Hemme appears in Shaw's line of vision. He loses sight of pinning Anderson, and decides to go after Hemme, following her through the house. As he gets within arms reach of her, Mr. Anderson appears from a room and catches Shaw by surprise with a chloroform rag, and hits the mic check on him, finally pinning him for the win. Afterwards, Hemme and Anderson walk out of the house, and get into Andersons's car and leave, thus ending the storyline and establishing Anderson as a heroic babyface and Shaw as the sociopath he was meant to be. For all of this to work though, Shaw needs to be initially established as a sympathetic babyface, while Anderson is a dastardly heel. You could even have something where Anderson attacks Shaw, while's a babyface, and "injures" him putting him out of action for several weeks. The commentators and interviewers would all have to build up Shaw as being this great wrestler and great guy, so the fans would be conditioned to not suspect anything out of Shaw, up until the reveal of his true character and nature. Thus, the "swerve, bro" would actually make sense and leave fans completely surprised about who Samuel Shaw really was.

And I'll be honest, I nearly skipped because I didn't really know who she was so I didn't really care. Plus post-mortem retrospective pieces kinda generally are a bit of a bummer.

There’s so much potential creepy and funny that u could do with him on the main roster. Him being a mute and having that creepy look and the movements. He’s a character that doesn’t need a title. He could be a attraction. But knowing wwe now if they call him up, they’ll make him talk and ruin him
