Today on Ring of The Hawk we get to see a TNA knockout for the first time. Lacey Von Erich was mainly only hired due to her family and her looks. Unfortunately that only gets you so far and she built up a reputation for being a bad wrestler. Will she live up to that repuation? Find out another exciting episode of Ring Of The Hawk!

Exactly. It’s why putting Lacey with The Beautiful People and making her a heel wasn’t the best move. No matter what they were doing to the other women to draw heat, I just always thought “how can I boo this woman when I know (as did most wrestling fans) that she had such a painfully tragic childhood?” She could have been a great babyface, with her name and her backstory, that’s the kind of person in wrestling that fans can rally behind.

Lacey had the same problem as crimson. They were pushed too fast while they were inexperienced, but she was actually improving and seemed like she wanted to learn. It probably would've been better to have her be the Beautiful People's manager while she trained and eventually transitioned her in a wrestling role after she had the necessary experience. She is a good example of being inexperienced but still entertaining.
@MsDawnKeyballs
@MsDawnKeyballs 2 жыл бұрын
A manager role to start off would've been smart. Or even more simply she could have just been somebody that the beautiful people "saved" since that was kind of their whole gimmick for the most part And just had her be a lackey that had to learn to basically get into their sorority sort to speak

I wanted her to succeed because she had the looks, sexy and tall, and I automatically thought that because she is a Von Erich she would eventually get good.. She didn't. I watched her career closely and she just don't have it, some people just don't get any better even with proper training.. shame

She was actually getting good towards the end, if she stuck to it for another year or so, I am sure that she would have shown more of a Von Erich side where she'd be genuinely good. I say that they should have had her be the muscle of the Beautiful People, like have her be their bodyguard and have Angelina Love rejoin them as the leader and Velvet and Madison be the Tag Team while Lacey be the enforcer as she trains to get better and better with some wrestling for her here and there.

@@mikebottomlesspitdunham2954 I followed her career closely and she never really got as good as her name succest.. She was way too green and should've started training earlier than she did, she could've been a descent WWE Diva with some training tbh. Kinda sad, she was a bimbo but good looking and her name had value... Reminds me of Mick Foley's daughter Noelle, she started training but she wasn't really good, now she had to stop because she took too many shots to her head

@@KalmoK I'm not saying that she was in reality, but she probably would have become that good if she had stuck with it for another year or 2. Lets look at the other members. Angelina Love got good with time, how good was Angelina in 2007 when she was wrestling for about 4 years after managing for 3? How good was Velvet in when she was 4 years into the business? Madison Rayne when she went to TNA? Lacey also with little seasoning was not botching that much in 2010, and the times she did, was either due to momentum or wasn't close to each other in time unlike say Eva Marie who would forget to kick out at times.

There is a very big distinction between bad and not entertaining and bad, but entertaining. Lacy clearly had something and clearly wanted to get better by the end. The biggest issue is TNA seeing her looks and shoving her on tv and in the ring whenever they could and not giving her time to develop. She should've just been a manager for the beautiful people. It would've had the same effect. She was just too awkward in the ring which made everything else suffer. Comedy heels don't need to be great wrestlers is they have charisma, but they do need to have some basic ability. Misusing talent was always a problem for the company. I could really see a beautiful people type team or stable doing really well with the current wrestling climate. It would get genuine heat from the internet wrestling fans. The gimmick of not being good at wrestling, using their looks, and cheating is just a good way to draw heat and attention

Cuz it makes me think that the internet fans would treat that kind of faction like they were doing with Roman Reigns for a couple years when the WWE was shoving him down the people's throats as the next face of the company-- that kind of heat doesn't draw, that's the so-called _"X-Pac Heat"_ , aka "Get the F*** Out of the Ring/Off the TV Heat"

On the other hand, Marshall and Ross Von Erich are pretty solid. Lacey was a clear case of TNA needing some sort of development center at the time, because she was at least 2 years too early for tv; she was getting better for sure, but it's still hard to overwrite one's memory of her earlier stuff, especially when it was that memorably bad.

It's too bad they threw her in when she was so green. She had everything you'd want aside from ring ability: she's attractive, athletic, has charisma, does good character work and as a bonus is from one of the most famous families in wrestling. She had kids and didn't want to go on tour, wrestling was just fun for her. She had pretty bad luck, got released from her WWE developmental contract, went to the indies but got meningitis, signed for TNA later that year. With another two years or so in developmental she could have been pretty good.

Angelina was let go from TNA in Sept 2008 due to a Visa issue. TNA just used the Visa Angelina had from WWE instead of renewing it under a new job. When her contract came due in a few months, legal noticed the error. In a panic they immediately cut ties with Angelina Love. Behind the scenes she was facing it 10-year ban in the United States for working without a valid Visa. Long story short, we were able to get Angelina's Visa renewed in December 2008 and she made a return to impact on January 5th TV taping. We were really upset because this was the big Monday live show January 4th when Bret Hart returned to the WWE and they didn't return Angelina Love instead held her off for the taping the next night. This was the shows that saw the debut of Hogan and Bischoff and began there time in the company.

The reason Angelina Love was gone from TNA in 2009, was because TNA didn't give her a proper work visa. Which she required as a Canadian national. If she didn't go back to Canada while waiting for the proper paperwork and instead tried continued working without it, then there was a very real risk with her being on Spike TV every week, that she could have been deported and banned from entering the country again. TNA re-hired her four months later in January 2010 when they had the visa sorted. If you want an idea of how harsh the punishment could have been, then look at Nicole Matthews who was in the 2018 Mae Young classic. She was caught later that year using a travel visa to enter the U.S. to wrestle an indie show, and they banned her from entering the country for five years. Which is a damn shame, as she's really talented as a wrestler. And unfortunately because she'll be 36 when the ban is up in 2023, it's unlikely that WWE will have any interest in her.

Here's a good, but possibly improbable Idea for a Ring Of The Hawk: The Hardyz in Ring Of Honor. Jeff made an appearance at a 2003 show (where he got heavy jeers from the crowd), Matt's first run for a few shows in 2005 (during the whole Edge-Lita-Matt Love Triangle Scandal) and finally, their team up in 2017 when they briefly held the Ring Of Honor Tag Team Championships (I did not include Matt's Ring Of Honor run from 2012-2014 because that run would not count for Ring Of The Hawk, though that one could be a brief topic of discussion).

Too bad her last match was her best one. I give props to anyone that shows a willingness to learn and get better. Developing on television isn't something easy to do, especially having to see derogatory signs and the crowd telling her to quit. That would hurt anyone so good job putting your nose to the grindstone Lacey.
