I'm in my 40s, here what worked for me: collagen powder every day, retinoid, try to lose weight slowly to avoid skin sagginess, eat healthy and avoid food that increase inflammation, not wearing makeup all the time, avoid the sun, be happy and avoid tension and stress.

Speaking of powder needing to be used in little amounts as you age, that L’Oréal True Match Super Blendable powder is as good as all the high end holy grail viral trendy powders at 1/4 the price. I am shocked this hasn’t been used more on the beauty channels. I absolutely love the Rimmel Stay Matte because it does not look or feel heavy, show as powder no matter the amount you use, but this L’Oréal provides a little more coverage, without looking like you’ve powdered and it also helps blur and give a smooth appearance to the skin so you look airbrushed. The square compact is the one I’m talking about, not the circular one. If you’ve not yet tried it, I highly recommend grabbing one, and the shade range isn’t too shabby either.

drinking alcohol ages women fast. I first noticed about 5 yrs ago when I quit for a yr. The before and after pics were pretty hard to look at. its been 3 yrs with no alcohol and my skin, my energy and my decision making processes are better than ever. most of the gals on youtube or in entertainment have a worn out, often swollen look if they drink booze or wine.

That contour isn’t blending well and is more patchy and harsh because you laid that powder down first. I’d powder after all the liquid and creams or you will end up having to go back over it after applying a facial mist or going back over it with a beauty sponge. Save yourself the hassle and just wait to powder your face. Even if you don’t think you’ve powdered the area you are adding liquid or cream products to, it will have some in areas and lock down the liquid or cream before you even get a good chance to blend it all out perfectly. It never hurts to wait to powder.
@Rue994
@Rue994 3 ай бұрын
I agree. Contour and blush. Powder hangs on to the cream more in some areas making it harder to disperse and blend. That is why pros have always said use powder products last. Ever since Patrick Tah came out with the blush duos, and recommended using the cream after the powder blush, people have thought that works for every formula. Blame Patrick😂

It is because of you that I want to wear makeup more often! I struggle with health issues, so I can go weeks without wearing any makeup, but I have stepped up my skincare game a lot. One step I do add after I apply primer, foundation and concealer is adding setting spray before powder. I let it dry completely, then use the tiniest amount of powder!

I love pulling color into a neutral eye by using a shadow or eyeliner pencil smoked out as a liner. It doesn’t overwhelm the look you have, but it gives that pop, defines the eyes a lot more and brings out the eye color making the eye look way less boring. It’s so easy to do, quick, fun, yet it makes such a big difference.

My humble suggestion is use a gentle liquid exfoliant after cleansing at night, then allow it to absorb into your skin and apply a retinol cream on top. This will sleuth off any dry patches in your skin. I'm currently using Good Molecules overnight exfoliating treatment formulated with AHA + BHA ( I would use it like a Monday, Thursday and Sunday in that sequence because it's super gentle. Caveat if you just shaved your face wait 24 to 48 hrs before using actives. After the liquid exfoliant I put on MARÉE Collagen and Retinol deep moisturizer on top or you could sandwich it with some ELF Holy Hydration cream. Skin prep is everything, at night and in the morning and last but not least sunscreen is a must. I like Haru Haru chemical sunscreen and Misha Sun milk with the pink Cap and both are SPF 50. Also you can boost your Sunscreen with vitamin C. I like Goodal Green Tangerine Vitamin C Dark spot serum before applying sunscreen. Edited: I use Haru Haru chemical sunscreen all over my face after applying Vitamin C and then apply Misha Sun Milk sunscreen in my T-zone as a primer and it blurs my pores.

If anything my makeup game is BETTER as an older woman than even just 5 yes ago! At this age the more luminous and natural makeup is actually sexy 😉 So thanks for these kinds of videos they are definitely my favorite ❤

It was my first time using/purchasing a Sephora make up product and I could not have been happier . I went back in and purchased some of the lip liners and they too are wonderful ❤️… I buy the gel liners. I haven’t tried the other ones. When they have their next 30% off on Sephora products, I plan on picking up more shades. They are great.

I am so bummed that I was allergic to the Armani foundation! It is so beautiful, but I am highly allergic to something in it. I switched to the NARS sheer glow & I love it! I love the Lancôme la base pro primer, & I also love the Hourglass vanish primer. The Patrick Star & Givenchy Prism loose powders are amazing, & I love the Charlotte Tilbury & Patrick Star setting sprays. I was surprised at how much I love the Mally Face Defender setting … I guess it’s a gel?! Whatever it is, it works amazing at setting makeup & making it last ALL DAY! The Mally Face Defender worked amazing once I figured out how to use it! A very little bit goes a LONG way!

Wonderful and educational video! Thank you for sharing these tips & tricks with us. Would you be able to do a video or respond to this with what you use for skin prep before makeup (what products you use, why, how long do you let it sit before starting with your primer, and SPF recommendations that look good under makeup and not cakey or pill under makeup, etc.)?? I know it’s a very important part of having good makeup days but I don’t know what to use, what order to use them in, how long to wait afterwards before putting on makeup, and all of those steps/information. Please & thank you. It would be greatly appreciated and I’m sure others would also love to know this information!! Thank you!

Hi Marlena. I have been watching your videos for a while now & they are great. I have a quick question for you-you used to rave a lot about the Lancôme Teint Idole UltraWear foundation. I was thinking of trying it but then read it was reformulated approx. 1 year ago. Do you still love it? And if I remember correctly you have dry skin, correct? I normally would not buy a matte complexion product because I have dry skin but I trust your opinion on these things. It might be nice to have a foundation that is not so glowy for a change. I am good at skincare prep & could use glowy primer too. Please let me know your thoughts on the reformulated version when you can. Thanks!

You look younger before which is natural. We all look older, myself included. But the makeup that was on trend dated a lot of us. The heavy foundation and so much eyeshadow made me look older than I was at that age. I like the idea of a perfected base, without it being so obvious that I am wearing foundation if that makes sense.

Dior Forever Matte is my holy grail for my oily skin. It FAR surpasses Estee Lauder, that I've used for around 15 years steadily. EL can get cakey. Dior does not, ever. The finish is so much better. It is not as thick as EL and never gets cakey or weird during the day with oily skin.

I am 26 & when I put makeup on without skincare/prep before, my eyes/skin look tired… 😅 Definitely skincare before makeup makes a huge difference! I also look tired when I don’t have falsies on 🥲😫 Need a serum to have my natural straight lashes grow

LOVE THESE TIPS! I’m 36 and this definitely has helped my makeup game! My fav mascara used to be the Dior one, but I love, love loooove the Essence Lash Princess ($5 on Amazon or at Ulta). Also, love your necklace ❤

Ive never exfoliated my face, or anything for that matter 😂Any suggestions for SUPER sensitive skin? Preferably no fragrance and as natural as possible? I think I might also have a little rosacea, so literally anytime I try new products I’m terrified that it’ll give me a chemical burn😩 *So, I don’t try anything new very often. My current routine is: Wash my face with cool water, wash cloth, and Ponds makeup remover cold cream. Then I use Elf Liquid Poreless Primer, followed by It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness cream and Your Skin But Better+Skincare.

I follow doctorly on here. They recommend a face wash by avenoo or Cetaphil. The Cetaphil brand is around $20. They also recommend only doing it starting out around 2x per week.

Also, I can't believe you are able to use elf products, my sensitive itchy skin can not tolerate elf products. I also read last night that clinique is one of the best brands for sensitive skin

I'm with you. I have sensitive skin and rosacea and I didn't know what to use to exfoliate. Kassandra Bankson suggested using the ordinary's mandelic acid and that has made such a difference in my skin without any aggravation.

I use Eucerin face wash and moisturizer. They discontinued the one I was using for years but their new one doesn’t irritate my skin either. I just started exfoliating because I’m so sensitive ugh. I use Cetaphil for that. It still burns my face though so I only do it 1-2x a week.

I turned 46 on Friday (6/21) and am proud to say that my skin is pretty darn good! I use skin care that includes vitamin C and E, hyaluronic acid and retinoid. I also figured that creams are so much more forgiving than powders!!

Dear Marlena, thank you so much for putting your attention towards women who are not that young anymore! 🌹 What I have noticed is the less product I use, the better it works for me. If I just do a second layer of foundation under my eyes, it looks almost invisible while adding a layer of concealer makes my fine lines look really pronounced. I have a question, please. In the morning do you cleanse your skin (with micellar water, for example) or do you just start with a primer? And another one, please: when (if at all) do you apply your sunscreen? Before your primer? Instead of your primer? Please kindly advise.

Great video, I have just turned 41 and have oily skin. My favorite foundation is the profiltr soft matte foundation of Fenty’s. I think that the double wear has a bit heavier texture, I personally prefer very lightweight foundations.

Oooh I’ll have to try that. I’m 38 and still have oily skin so far. I struggle with foundations especially in the summer. They melt off my face ugh.

okay, seeing you hold up the Maybelline Master Blur Stick had sent me straight to subscribe. I have oily skin and that product is such a go-to & I rarely see it mentioned! (unless I'm missing a Tik Tok trend, which I very well could be)
