I am 53 and one of the best things about getting older is just not giving a flying doughnut what other people think, wrinkles? Yes and I earned every one of them, grey hair? Yes and I love it, all of these are badges of honour, they make me who I am. Your weight, just be healthy, you skin, it keeps your insides on the inside, and it's doing a great job, your nose? if it"s functional then don't mess with it, it's the gift your ancestors gave you and it is beautiful. Utimately, you are the only you in existance, why would you want to lose your unique beauty just because other people are transfering theur insecurities to you. Be you, you are already awesome and magnificent.

I almost couldn't watch this video after the "she has such a pretty face" intro. I heard this every day from my mom and grandmother. My sister was "the pretty one," and I was "the smart one." It frickin' haunted us -- my sister who routinely tested in the genius range on standardized tests, never really did anything with her towering intellect. She's had a bunch of surgeries, though, to maintain herself -- which is IMO ridiculous. I got the advanced degree, and I was 40 and newly married before I believed anyone could look at me and find me even a little physically attractive. Those words in childhood words really have power, and adults need to be WAYYY more careful with their mouths. In my late 50s now, and finally free -- and I'm still heavier than I would like, but it does not affect me like it used to. Now, it's about health. Thanks so much for your honesty -- you will never know how many hearts you touched today.

I used to be so much more confident before him and he made it a point to bring me to my lowest. The healing is still going. The universe gave me a very patient husband who is also my therapist, lol I am now wearing more of the things I like. I was a bit sad that I only lost 17 pounds in a year. But it was in a healthy way. I am moving to the right path and I hope we continue to heal in this 2024. Lots of love to you! I hope you are having an amazing day.

The very best advice that you can give is to NOT listen to other people! I’m more confident at 64 despite having to use a walker to walk, due to a muscle disorder, than I have ever been. Weight was never my issue, but I always felt that I wasn’t good enough. My ex husband didn’t help matters, but now I love myself, I am worthy and I have a wonderful second husband who I have been with for the last 20 years who loves me unconditionally. You have to learn to love yourself before you can attract the right kind of partner. Great advice Marlena, and a beautiful makeup look as well!

My confidence didn't 'arrive' until I fully embraced the fact that I'm a lot more than just my appearance. I'm 54 now, and it took me way too long to finally start feeling good about myself, and now that I'm this mature, I often think about just how difficult it is to be a woman. It seems that most of society objectifies women as only possessing value for their physical beauty and desirability. (How often do you hear about young men being sex trafficked vs women?) We women are hard on ourselves, and society is hard on us too. We just need to learn how to appreciate ourselves and one another for who we are and ALL we have to give the world.

I love your vulnerability in these last few videos I’ve watched. You are an absolute gem and strong woman to share the things you’ve shared. I heard somewhere that disregarding negative opinions people have about you is one thing, but we need to also disregard the positive opinions about you as well. They are just opinions and to be swayed either way gives the power to the opinion holder. It is so important that we truly love and value ourselves, regardless of anyone’s opinion of us. Wayne Dyer(I think 🤷🏼♀️) said something to the effect of “your opinion of me is none of my business” Love you ❤😊

Thank you for your thoughts on how we look at ourselves. I lost most of my hair years ago and I wear a wig. Most people don’t even know I have a wig on. And I learned how to make my own human hair wig from watching KZbin. That helped me feel so much better because I was proud that I learned how. And human hair wigs are expensive, at least the ones I like. Do what you have to do to better yourself. And don’t do it for someone else. Accept who you are and love who you are. Now I’m not saying I wouldn’t want my hair back, but that’s not going to happen so I had to accept that fact. God bless you all✝️❤️

I am 51 years old and recently have lost a lot of weight, due to illness, and an illness that no one seems to understand. It is incredibly isolating and has changed every aspect of my life. However, I do not look unwell. What has stunned me, is the excitement that others have displayed in how I look, and the rush to congratulate me on how fabulous I am... I can honestly tell you that while sure it's nice to be complimented, none of these people were interested in the fact that I am unwell. How did it get to this, that how we look is so important, and that we rush to congratulate people, as though they are now better than they were before? Isn't kindness better? Isn't it better just to be a good and accepting person? I love beauty as much as the next person, but not more than decency, or kindness. Personally, I have become a bit resentful of the comments from others, so please everyone, love the skin you are in, because we are fabulous, just the way we are x

I would rather one real beautiful person like Marlena (and you have such a lovely face) than all the plastic surgery look alike in the world. You are beautiful inside and out Marlena, the difference between you and all those so-called beautiful, but due to plastic surgery, women, who have no soul or personality, is just that, you have soul and personality. You're a true individual Marlena and half of the value of beauty is in how rare and unique it is! Other people always try to undermine your self esteem, I know the type and have dealt with them my entire life. Don't let them, I am so glad you got out of that because you were always the better person. I lost a lot of weight due to a medical condition in my forties and, while I thought I had the figure I wanted, I wasn't happy. Losing weight leaves you with a saggier version of yourself and that really undermined my confidence. I am much happier now at a weight that I can sustain, even though its on the larger side of the BMI, its not dangerous and stays the same. My face etc looks better, I am happier with my bigger, non saggy boobs and it's your own opinion that is the most important. I am perfectly happy the way I am now and don't have the constant urge to diet or whatever. I eat plant based wholefoods and occasional fish or meat and don't limit myself, my cholesterol and blood sugar are fine, no problems, so I would say to you, if you're happy in yourself, its more healthy to be on the chubbier side because stressing about diet doesn't do anyone any favours. As long as your body is functioning within normal parameters you don't need to worry. Obviously it isn't healthy to be morbidly obese but that is a whole other topic that you don't need to be stressing about either. I don't see your weight yo-yoing and I think thats where a lot of the harm comes from. You be your own, beautiful self Marlena as it shows outwardly when you are happy inwardly.❤

First meeting after that, I walked into the room, and saw a group of Girl Scouts and the leader standing with their back to me laughing at something I walked up and asked what’s so funny? They tried to hide it, but they were laughing at my picture! 🤦🏼♀️ As the years have passed, I have struggled to accept who I am and continue to do so It’s nice and comforting to hear that I am not alone …

Thank you SO much for this video. I'm going to write these down. Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with a disease where I must take steroids every day ( to stay alive!) My body has changed dramatically, especially my face (that used to be very slim.) I have stopped allowing anyone to take my picture, even with my grandchildren. I'm ashamed to admit that....but I need to deal with it and get over myself! I have just let my insecurities take over. And I know I am so much more than a number on a scale!!

Thank you for sharing. I too have suffered with weight all my life and heard the name calling. When I first started watching you, I was attracted to your confidence and you are so pretty. Most of the cosmetic content creators are not naturally beautiful without the makeup, but you are stunning even without makeup.
