It tears me to hear your story. I had an induced miscarriage and it still hurts me when I think about it. The hospital I had my induced miscarriage did this goodbye box wrapped for me with her feet pictures, and I cried every time I opened it. It's traumatizing. 😢

Join the club, I’ve had MAJOR swelling at the base of my neck on both sides which get better then swell up worse again for MANY years, they cause pressure to my chest, up to my head…I’ve gone with Neurologists, Internists, surgeons, plastic surgeons, etc etc etc I supposedly have nothing 🤦‍♀️ I get passed on even before they even give me 5 minutes and I’m a retired RN who is more knowledgeable about these things than a non-medical background person…women get ignored a lot easier…when I was going to nursing school women with problems that the doctors couldn’t figure out (or just didn’t want to) were called neurotic now they label us with things like fibromyalgia…😢

Now you’re making me think… at 44 years old, I’m currently unemployed because of debilitating migraines. I’m giving myself three injections every month to prevent them and taking three rescue medications for when I get them. Hmm. Interesting. Thank you!

Craziest thing: a male neurologist asked me if i enjoyed being raped. [ which I didn't bring up myself] he did this in front of my bf at the time too. We both got really upset but he never got how insane for him to ask that how dare he. Thank you so much for bringing this up. I'm almost 39 and mentioned peri menopausal symptoms and the doctor literally blew it off and said my sweating was bc im fat. I have had a similar issue with my endocrinologist but to a lesser extent. [ she is fantastic ] we just don't agree on where my bloodwork should be for idea without a thyroid. Thank you for sharing this virtual medical support. I'm a huge fan of virtual.

I’ve gone for the last year and a half to my neurologist my cardiologist, my OB/GYN, a second OB/GYN and anybody who would listen in between and everybody just keeps telling me I have severe dizziness/migraines and anxiety. Yes, I know I have those two things - the question is why and why aren’t you fixing the thing causing them??? I even expressly asked about hormone therapy and was told I was too young. I’m 50. So I signed up for this and I’m gonna give it a whirl because I’m tired of waiting on the doctors.

I talk about menopause and peri all the time with my girlfriends. No one talked to me about it and I had no idea it was happening to me. Although I knew in my 40's that things were changing. I took natural progesterone for a while and iodine and a few other supplements and I changed my diet away from SAD and towards whole foods. I was estrogen dominant and had a fibroid that was making me bleed 20+ days a month plus periods so heavy that I'd have to change hourly. I gained 15lbs I could not lose despite working out 5 days a week. I had temperature regulation issues at night and insomnia. I don't think I slept for 10 years of peri! Lol! Now 63 and on the carnivore diet which has allowed me to lose the weight I gained over my perimenopausal years and I'm back to pre peri weight. My hormones have healed as has my metabolism. I wish I'd been cared for properly back during peri so I didn't have to suffer as much. I'm glad I tried carnivore though. It's changed my health for the better. No more pain, no more insomnia, no more being overweight and tired. I love it.

I started with migraines at 39 yrs old.. My period was starting to get screwed up around 42 years old with heavy bleeding and clots. I had a medical procedure that took care of that. The migraines went on for a decade … my GYN explained to me that my migraines are hormone related and it has to do with my period. Long story short, the migraines stopped when I got through the other side of being perimenopausal and it takes A FEW YEARS! Hot flashes…. Waking up in the middle of the night soaking wet with sweat ….. heart palpitations…. Trembling…… headaches/headaches/headaches. I am now in my 50s and it’s all over INCLUDING THE MIGRAINES . The only reason I feel that my perimenopause phase was about a decade because that’s how long I had the migraines and hot flashes.

I saw an interview with a woman who is a leader in women's health where she said that out of the 8+ plus she spent in med school, they spent 4 weeks studying menopause. 4 weeks!!!!! When she saw just how bad it was and how women were being treated, she left general practice to focus mainly on women's health and menopause. It's ridiculous. And it needs to change. Never stop advocating for yourself!

I appreciate this video SO MUCH! I went thru menopause and began suddenly having what was termed, “silent seizures”. I never convulsed, but I just went away for a couple of minutes and then came back and I had lost time. I got NO ANSWERS from my OBGYN and a Neurologist nearly killed me by putting me on a medication that caused my whole personality to change and I lost from 220lbs down to a sickly thin 128lbs. I looked so bad and ghostly that people asked my family if I had cancer! All praise to God, I got hooked up with The Epilepsy Foundation out of Houston that I obsessively called trying and begging to give me an appointment because I was in their waiting list because of so many people needing help with seizures. One woman took pity on me or she was sick of me calling and gave me an appointment. I had a seizure in the office waiting for the Doctor to come in and so the staff were able to witness them because my MRI was completely normal and not showing epilepsy. The Doctor put me on a medication that completely stopped my seizures. That was about 12 years ago and I haven’t had a seizure since and once I was completely thru menopause, my seizures stopped and I no longer need medication. 🙌🏼 This is a field of medicine that has been completely ignored for so many years because every woman has different symptoms and it just takes time to figure out the right cocktail for each one so most Doctors stay clear of it. I believe more attention is FINALLY being given to this area of women’s healthcare and that yes, we need help past our baby producing years. There needs to be more information and foundations set up that help low income women get the help they need. When a wife and Mom cannot function, the entire family suffers and that needs to END. There’s so much attention on abortion in women’s healthcare and NONE on menopause. I literally know zero women who’ve had an abortion, but I know MANY who have gone thru menopause and had to needlessly suffer. This needs to end. Love ya, lady and thank you for your story and your attention to this issue! I don’t live far from Houston and would LOVE to do a video with you telling of my nearly deadly experience with my menopause that I know women would want to hear about. The majority of the information I got on mine didn’t come from the medical community, but came from the internet. Reply if you are interested.

The first 30 seconds in, I had a feeling you were talking about perimenopause. ❤ I have been going through some of the same symptoms and have been dismissed, even by women doctors. I’m sorry you’ve been through this, and I’m happy you’ve found someone who is willing to listen and help. What us women have to go through is absolutely crazy….ALWAYS educate yourselves, research and ADVOCATE for yourselves. Stand up for yourselves. A couple of Andrew Huberman podcasts really helped me. Listen to YOUR body. Hormones are what makes our bodies function and yet there’s so little information provided for us about it.

I was 44 YEARS fighting for help. I finally got help about 4-5 yrs ago, not menopause (went through that yrs ago) but now I will have 2 surgeries in 3 months. The USA healthcare is becoming a joke. The “best & richest” country in the world, fails veterans & definitely drops the ball on healthcare. Sad sad sad 🤦‍♀️

Dr. Mary Claire Haver, OBGYN in TX. The woman is totally amazing and her website is full of amazing resources. It's not easy going through these changes and how it affects everyone so differently. Knowing that there is a network of Doctors that can understand the "M" word and how to relate & treat women...OMG so grateful. Take care, Gma Jane 😉💕👩‍🦳

My husband does Testosterone Replacement therapy with a non HMO Dr and his mood improved so much as well as his fitness. I am interested as well as I suffer from Fibro/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome my whole adult life and I am 58. Best for me is to be on as little Pharm meds e.g. Lyrica, Topomax they actually made me worse and started adding on additional prescriptions to counter the side effects of the other meds. Less is more with the traditional Dr office meds. I did do Everly Well test that showed I had low T, but the only problem is I fight hormonal cystic acne so the estrogen patch I am currently on combined with TRT therapy would probably make the acne worse. I take Spironlactone and Tretinoin for the cystic acne which has helped tremendously. Also like Marlena, I have been gaslit for years and years having Fibro and CFS is instant dismissal from the HMO medical Drs.

Women are not served well by the medical establishment. I mean, men probably aren't either, but we tend to go to the doctor more frequently. I didn't learn about perimenopause until I was a full-on adult. I learned from my older sister, and I mentioned to my doctor who said "you're too young!" There's so much they tell us is "in our heads" and they always tell us to lose weight, even when we come to the doctor because we're gaining weight for no reason and can't figure it out. Hypothyroidism and PCOS are other big issues that people are regularly dismissed for (you're just too fat 🙄). I was diagnosed 6 years ago and my symptoms kept getting worse just on levothyroxine. I finally found a doctor willing to give me liothyronine and I don't need an afternoon nap anymore.

It's bad, at times it's lethal. Many, many women are dismissed in medical care. If you make the mistake and say you have panic attacks, you'll never be taken seriously again. I was passed from doctor to doctor, dismissed, and drugged 16 years ago. Finally, I went to the ER, and they found that I had stage 3 ovarian cancer! I went through surgeries, chemo, and blood transfusions. It's really a miracle I'm alive. I was actually told several times that I just looked too good to have anything really wrong with my health! Healthcare in the USA is an expensive mess!
