Thanks Marlene. Like many others I haven't really explored all the options here except for the Star Filter which I have used at sunset on a beach with a jetty with a row of street lights on it. It gave the star effect on every other street light so looked most peculiar so I wan't impressed at all. One light had a star and the next light didn't for the whole length of the jetty. One on, one off, one on, one off etc etc Now you have shown me that to press the White Balance button (or the pallette and brush icon option on the screen) brings up all those options so I will go and try it out again soon. Thanks again.
@ImageMaven4 жыл бұрын
Glad you got a couple tips from the video. I found it kind of hard to determine from the LCD preview, where the actual stars would land. So it might be easier in the case of your night photo, to shoot with a super small f/stop like f/16 or f/22. At night that will give you the star filter look on every light. You also get the star filter effect by shooting through a mesh screen, like on a window screen. Hopefully that gives you some food for thought. Thanks for your comment. Cheers!
@Stalled-wm3qd4 жыл бұрын
@@ImageMaven Well I had another try tonight at the same jetty with a dozen lamp posts on it and was very disappointed with the result. I was able to change from the 4 point star to the multipoint star and also change the size of the stars. But I couldn't go back to the 4 point star from the multipoint star. I touched the 4 point star on the screen and every button I could and it was still stuck on the multipoint star. With both star types they kept zipping up and down the row of streetlights. No matter what the settings the stars were always on the move and never still and never on every light of the dozen lamp posts. The next time I go I will try and set the aperture to small and see how that goes. However, I don't think this particular effect should be jumping around from a few lights to another few lights in a completely random way. When I took a snap of course some of the lights do not have a star on them which is no good. Another snap had different lights with no star. Any ideas please?
@ImageMaven4 жыл бұрын
Well it seems that it’s just random. (And just to clarify that small f/stop technique is for use without the star filter.)
@Stalled-wm3qd4 жыл бұрын
@@ImageMaven I've just filled in the contact form and sent it off to Panasonic Australia so hope they can explain the random jumping around of the stars on the row of lights.
@Stalled-wm3qd4 жыл бұрын
@@ImageMaven Thanks Marlene. I went again tonight and it was a bit later and darker and the starbursts were not jumping around so much but still not on every light (plus the Moon plus Venus). I also discovered my error later that evening at home where I discovered the correct use of the yellow icons on the screen. The top one is for controlling the length of the star shape. The next one is for controlling how many starburst points there are. The last one is for changing the angle/direction (up to 90 ° of the starburst points.

Hi Marlene, great video. I am trying to get away from just using iA on my Lumix TZ-80. I have been watching all your instructional videos, really helpful. How about a video for getting the most out of pocket cameras ? Thank you from UK:-)
@ImageMaven4 жыл бұрын
If I can get my hands on a pocket camera someday I will. But basically I would use exactly the same methods as with any camera. Whatever I say in these videos about the G9, etc. I would also say for the TZ80, if your camera has those options. Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmLLlnyvhdCpoJY In it I use my small M4/3 camera, the Lumix GM5. I've nearly worn the thing out in the past 3 years of having it as I carry it with me all the time. I wish Panasonic would keep making the smaller mirrorless lineup. But I think they're going in the full frame direction now. I've got my eyes on a Lumix LX100ii. A bit pricey but a nice 1" sensor. Not a fan of the power zoom lenses though, and that's my hesitation too. Hope that helps get you over the hump. Don't be nervous just try stuff. Photography takes practice. And it doesn't matter what camera you're using. Thousands upon thousands of photos, and I'm still learning. Thanks for stopping by to chat, Chris.

Hi, Marlene, Another excellent, informative class. Thank you. I recently exchanged my Lumix 100-300mm telephoto for the Leica/Lumix 100-400mm. I love the short minimum focus distance of 1.3 meters but was wondering about adding the Redrock Micro 72mm 5x Achromat macro adapter to it. I found it online and it's currently on sale for $49. It intrigues me because it reminds me of the closeup attachment lens I had with my Leica M3. It fit over the 90mm lens and had a ring around it to correct the rangefinder view. I have not really been able to find any reviews about it. Do you have any experience with such a thing? Thanks.

Sounds like an extreme magnification. Is that intended for a long lens, or a short lens? I've used Micro lenses for close up work, but never on a long focal length. Sorry I don't know a thing about this beast. Glad you like your new lens. My longest is the Lumix 35-100mm and I rarely use that one. I'm more of a wide angle shooter. Do you still like the G9 Marlene? I have mine now for almost a year and learned a lot with you're videos, but the camera isn't that good; the rubbers (on the body and battery door) are peeling off.

Yes, I still love my G9. I guess that means you are using it a lot, or it's rubbing on your clothing or something when you carry it. I haven't had any issues like that at all. But I did drop a lens and the rubber zoom ring broke. But that was my fault.

Too rushed and garbled Marlene and often you are moving the slider at the bottom of the display and we've got no idea what for. It felt as if you wanted to get this video over with so you could go have a cup of tea or something. Sad, I've always enjoyed your videos.

Noted! Try watching with captions. That might help.
