@parrotlife68565 жыл бұрын
I would just like to give some suggestions for your budgie Pablo and this isn’t just for Marlene it’s for anyone who owns a budgie . 1 Pablo is actually a girl ( you can tell by her cere ) 2 you should add some rope or natural perches to her cage . They are so much better than those dowel perches and super cheap ( and I know you use those for your other birds Marlene I don’t know why you don’t do that for Pablo. 3 that little hut made out of fluff is deadly for birds . Parrots love to chew as you have said in the past and your budgie will chew the fluff and strings and eat them . They will get stuck in her crop and you will have to get them surgically removed . No hate . I love you Marlene and your videos have helped me so much with my parrot ownership so I’m just giving friendly suggestions:)

You're birds are literately the most spoiled birds ever😂but thats great. You see we humans are either a spoiler or a trainer (lets not Talk about the ones that like abusing). So you either spoil or train. You can't have both because training needs some discipline. Both kinds have happy pets but they're very different. Now you have to choose between well behaved or just being himself. I'll take the spoiling since I want my pets to be themselves. Just like yours. You are so awesome Marlene. So I'm a recent owner of a Conure - my first bird. It's my boyfriends but he's gone now (not for good but taking care of his sick mom) and Phoebe is with me forever! So.....I wanted to fix up her cage and that's how I found one of your videos - $250 later thanks for the help lol. Anyways since then I have been watching all your videos on my smart TV so I was never able to comment or subscribe until today when I went to my computer specifically to message you and tell you how much I have been enjoying all your videos! You are so fun and great and I love watching you interact with the birds its so awesome. Phoebe and I are bonding more and more every day but she HATES her $250 cage of toys and fun and has not touched ANY NEW things in 3 days now. I know she'll come around and I look forward to that day but for now she only touches things that were in the cage previously. The rest is treated like the plague!!! Anyways, I love your birds but have to say I love Jersey for entertainment value. I even made my son watch him tonight and he seemed genuinely amused. Anyways, I wanted to thank you for the entertainment and helpful tips you've given. I really want a African Grey now....thank you for that too lol. Seems like this friendship is going to end up costing me a lot of money lol. But seriously my boyfriend and I are huge animal lovers (between us we have 3 dogs too) and we'd like to buy a huge house on the outskirts so we can get more. For now I will live vicariously through you. Thanks Marlene & George and the Gang! You guys are awesome :)

Your "bird room" reminds me of my "bird room" a LONG TIME AGO, until a tragedy happened. I had about 12, or more, birds, also. I had a lovebird, "Peaches," 2 bluejays, "Tuffy" and "Mimi," about 5 or 6 zebra finches (parents and their babies), about 3 or 4 sparrows, and a crow. I had raised the bluejays and the sparrows. They were all found, when they were little (the sparrows had been brought to me in their nest, that had, somehow, fallen out of a tree). The sparrows lived with the finches, when they were grown, and it was one big happy flock. My vet had asked me, if I would take in the crow, because he could not be released back into the wild, and, for some reason, the local wildlife rescue, either, did not want him, or did not have a place for him. My vet had been treating him for something, but, though I had raised many baby birds, and I had taken in many birds found by people, throughout the years, I did not know much about the diseases of birds. Apparently, whatever the crow had been treated for, was still in his system and contagious, &/or he was a carrier of a disease. It was the morning of Christmas Eve. I opened the door of the "bird room," and everyone was dead, except my lovebird, "Peaches." I was ABSOLUTELY DEVESTATED!! THAT was one of the 2 worst Christmases of my life. [You might be wondering what the other time was, so I will mention it, now, though it is totally off the subject of birds. Something else was "flying" high, that time. It was about 10 years later, when my father, accidentally, shot me. He fired an old rifle off in the air, to see if it still worked. He wanted to give it to my older brother for Christmas. It was about the coldest winter, that California had ever had (17°). I was out back trying to get water out of a frozen hose for all of my rescued dogs (from a small pound, that let a man pick them up and sell them for research, so I got everyone out, and either put them in a foster home, a permanent home, or I took them home to our ranch). The bullets, pellets (or whatever they are called) came down on me. My hand was sliced open. I spent the night in the hospital, and, my elderly father spent the night in jail. Being shot was not what made my Christmas terrible. It was being blamed by my mother for the whole incident, that made my Christmas terrible. No one else was out there, so they did not know what had really happened. Since I was going into shock, half because I was shot, and half because I was so cold, I could not tell the sheriff, until later in the hospital what had happened, and that it was an accident. Both of my parents are gone now. I miss them both.] Thank you for listening. Though long ago, I guess, that I needed to talk about those devastating incidents in my life. Thank you for sharing the times with your birds, and all of the things that you have come to know about birds.

I just lost my cockatiel, Gabby. We were so fortunate to have had him with us from the age of about 8-10 weeks old, until he suddenly refused his medication he took to help with his arthritis pain, which would cause all his toes on one foot to curl into a ball. He was 28 years old, which is out of the ordinary for a cockatiel, whose normal life span is supposed to be about 10 to 15 years. My husband and I are heartbroken. We knew he was probably on ‘borrowed time’ when he turned 15, but he went downhill so quickly - in the morning I tried to give him his pain medication which was liquid and I let it soak into a couple nuggets of Grape Nuts cereal, which was his favorite treat. He always gobbled it down, but he refused it and lunged at me every time I offered it to him. I tried several times during the day to give him the medicine, but he would have nothing to do with it. He did go to his water at least twice during the day for a drink and his poor foot was curled into a ball because he hadn’t had his medication which was soaked into his Grape Nut nuggets which he refused several times when I tried to offer it to him again. As soon as my hubby got home, we packed him up an took him to the emergency animal ER Vet we used. He’d lost 10 grams since his previous visit which was about 2 months prior. The vet on duty presented a possible plan of treatment, but no guarantee he’d get better, but because of his age, we couldn’t see putting him through all that poking and prodding and so we made the most horrible decision of our lives. How do I recover from this? He was a prolific talker and I talked to him all day long. Now the house is silent. I cry at the drop of a hat every day at least once, usually more. I try not to let my husband see. The day after he spent the entire day in his lounge chair sobbing; the saddest thing I ever saw. I know he loved him, but for him to actually cry? No, I was not expecting that at all. Do you have any suggestions for us to help us move on? We’re seniors, so it wouldn’t be a goid idea for us to get another bird as whatever it was it would most likely out live us and our daughter has two dogs and although she interacted with Gabby when she would visit, I don’t think she would ever give him/her the attention we used to give our Gabby.
