My little lovebirds have been in our home for over a month now and they're both rescues. Though they are young, their previous owners definitely did not train them well. They're a bonded pair, but they have been having a lot of adolescent issues. This helped a lot because they have been progressively more aggressive fighting over our attention. Your videos give me hope and help me keep my eyes on the future when the days are difficult. :)

My Senegal is 13 years old. My family got her from a pet store that has since shut down and she bonded with me. She is very cage territorial and hormonal with me. She sits on my shoulder when I’m home and does short errands with me in her carrier. She will go after my macaw and african gray if they get on her cage (even if she isn’t using her cage and is with me). She is also potty trained so she flies back to her cage or the african grays cage to use the bathroom. Very worthwhile to potty train parrots.

hearing about those two reminds of me of the relationship my two cockatiels have. They love each other don't get me wrong, but sometimes they can be aggressive with each other and they get really jealous of each other as well. Sometimes Baby will bite me if I try to pet Gonzo and not him and vice versa. It's hard to balance them sometimes, but I've learned there's a certain way I have to pet them to get both of them the love and attention they need. They're both doing really well and I love that we have them.

Hi Marlene, I’m a new subscriber from the Lake District, Cumbria in the UK. I found your channel whilst scrolling for inspiration for a bathroom renovation project (go figure!) and you fairly stopped me in my tracks........I downed tools and watched quite a few video clips. I have two dogs (one a rescue) and a trio of Silkie chickens. Two girls and an AWESOME rooster called Cogburn. My husband and I have been married for 29 years and he has always wanted a parrot but I was rather nervous of birds (until I raised my Silkie chicks in my own kitchen) Your videos are so educational and as much as I LOVE your gang the advice you have given confirms we should not add to our family until we can give them the attention they need. I remember visiting an elderly lady years ago and she had two parrots locked in cages (I worked for a charity) and as I left her house I noticed both birds had large bald plucked areas. When I mentioned this to colleagues they said birds tended to do that when they were caged, and they’d seen lots of birds like that 😭 Coming from a horse and dog loving family this was very upsetting. I haven’t seen anyone in the UK educating people on **engaged not caged** and wondered if you had plans in the future to visit or work with someone in television over here. Paul O’Grady is a TV personality who works to rehome dogs through Battersea Dogs Home. He has an award winning program called For The Love of Dogs. The British public love Paul as he is such a kind sincere man. It would be BRILLIANT if you could do just one program with him to give us information and advice on our Feathered Friends ❤️ This is turning into War and Peace but I was moved when I saw your KZbin channel. Rehoming fees are also important because people are looking for free birds that they can sell. I volunteer for a bird rescue and that is why their rehoming fee is so expensive. If anyone ever needs to rehome a bird please be very cautious of people looking to make a quick $ from you. People will go to great lengths to trick you into thinking they are a perfect candidate for your bird and will sell your bird to the worst case scenario. If you ever need to give up a bird to someone you don't know please do not give them away for free and please don't give them away for next to nothing.

I really get what celestial is saying and don’t entirely disagree, which is why I love how discerning and selective about their future parronts. But I could also see them thriving with an owner as attentive and involved as Marlene, who didn’t have other birds or who only had one or two other birds. Imagine how happy Nellie would be to be the center of attention and how stoked Monty would be to enjoy more quiet one on one time. Marlene is incredible, but her number of birds somewhat limits the amount of one on one time she is able to give each individual bird during the day. Fortunately she knows how to create and nurture a flock and make sure that all of her birds feel her love, and also has George and her human flock to help her. I feel like either situation, Marlene keeps them because she can’t find the right new owner or Marlene adopts them out to the right owner is a win for Nellie and Monty.

I'm sure you will find them a good home. But It'll be sad not seeing them in your videos anymore. I love the way they bonded with you. It's like they just belong to you. But of course it's your decision :) and maybe we all will still be able to get Updates on them every now and then🌻🐦

Looooove that part at the end about your take with adopting and breeding and pet stores... I’m all for adopting dogs, but i also support reputable breeders. We all share that common love. But it’s your choice if you want to adopt or breed. No shame on either one :-)

There’s a bird place nearby full of all different types of birds like owls and flamingo. Also parakeets. It was amazing and I really want to maybe help.

MARLENE MC'COHEN yeah I’ve been thinking of asking my parents cause I want to be able to know how to take care of them.(I’ve wanted a bird sense I had gotten introduced to them when I first visited the sanctuary. ) so taking care of them and spreading awareness is something I’ve wanted to do sense finding out about what they go through.

I just want to let you know I lost my conure a year ago and I’ve been looking for a senegal I live in NC. And through your videos I fell In love with Nellie, I would love them both but Nellie would be the perfect bird for me, i have a beautiful cage brand new already set up with toys, I’m growing herbs right now for my new bird and my current parrotlet I’ve had for 5 years or so I will never rehome him he’s out every day I have a table perch and tons of toys. I also will be buying an outdoor aviary, so the birds will all have time outside in warm months, I have a screened in porch so they will have the life. Also I cook organic meals every day and understand the needs for birds. Noise doesn’t bug us, my family and I will skype with you to show everything I have. Please respond I love her. I also have shower perch set up for my new birds. I love birds and animals and have worked at several pet stores and have helped tame and get birds for people.

I’m not sure why Marlene hasn’t got her own TV show on animal planet yet!! Lol (Seriously though that would be my favourite show!) i link youtube up with my TV and me and my cockatiels Arthur & Tommy love watching the channel, we’ve seen every single video!! Not only is Marlene an incredibly unique and inspiring woman, she connects with these birds in the most beautiful way! Shes by FAR the best KZbinr!! On top of that shes so humble and somehow finds the time to interact, like and comment on fans as much as she can! She makes YOU feel special in that one moment “omg ive got a notification from marlene” how many youtubers honestly care like marlene cares??? Shes my idol 😍 (My cockatiels & doggies are on instagram- sassy.buddy)

These birds are precious. I think you should keep these birds. You know how to take care of them and love them . I do not want them to be mishandled nor neglected again. I do not think they belong with owners that have cats and dogs. They might get hurt. and it is more competition which they don't need. Even other birds could attack them. They seem to get along with your birds. You know how to handle this.. They could be your video buddies. George seems to like them a lot. Please consider keeping them. I want what is best for them. They need to feel loved and protected and the love must be genuine.

I really do love them and they have come a long way with me❤ but I have to always have the attitude that I am not the only person that can take care of or understand Birds. From my assessment there is a certain kind of a home that they would thrive in more than mine❤ I also would love to follow my dream of having a sanctuary one day, even now in my house, have to start somewhere🤗 what I realize though is that because of the situation that I am in people try to give me their birds all the time and I want to save them all so I have to practice being the person that these birds come through so that I can protect them and make sure that they have better homes🤗

Towards the end of the video, I can see you started to get tired. The birds are doing well. Don't you think Nellie is going to have a hard time without you.

I made quite a few videos that day so I might have gotten a little tired I think this was my fourth one that day❤ now he is actually very friendly and accepting of love I think she would flourish in a new home, where she can get all the love and attention that she needs ❤️

@@MARLENEMCCOHEN So seperating them and giving each bird to different people is definitely the best choice for them. I do believe they should go to different homes. Monty will never be a normal relaxed bird with Nellie around. And it kinda isn't fair that she has this power to control him and his feelings. You did a great job with them that they were able to co exist near eachother through the whole video,
@jackystar50995 жыл бұрын
I have 3 birds 1 dog and lots of chickens. I would love to take in all animals that needed help but realistically that's impossible. I doubt I'd be able to care for another bird. Can't believe you can care for all your pets unless you work from home (which I believe you do). Trust you to find a responsible and safe home for them.

poor babies they just get jealous i have 4 greencheeks and they behave the same they may be trying to re establish a pecking order with a new owner or new "momma parrot"

Hello. This will be long, but I hope you read all of it! Not sure if you will see this comment here though, so I will probably leave it on several videos. :) I would like to point out my thoughts about my wondering of, what's going to happen with Nellie and Monty? Is it becoming too late to re-home Nellie and Monty? I love watching them on your channel, but what I would love to see even more, is you successfully rescue, reliability, and re-home them. I say this, because I want to see you take a step closer to your dream of a bird rescue sanctuary/rescue group/rescue organization. What I keep seeing though, is the longer you delay re-homing birds, is the birds are only getting more bonded to you, your house, and being part of your flock. When the time comes to re-home, how will it effect them? I realize you want to "figure them out first" to help you re-home them to a good home, and I'm happy you are learning important things for the birds to coexists safely, but eventually, doesn't there need to be that point where they can be trusted to someone else, who can be a forever home that can also "figure them out"? Birds are never going to be fully figured out, that's part of the daily adventures of owning birds, so if you feel like, "I need to wait, to figure them out", they will never become re-homed, because they will never be"figured out". For re-homing, it is important to be able to trust that other people or families will be able to "figure out" the birds that become theirs. :) Again, I do love the two birds, as they are so cute and fun to watch, however, I would love for you to successfully follow through on a completed rescue, rehabilitate, re-home scenario, to be a step closer to your dream of a real bird rescue organization/rescue group. Bird's don't just come to you and stay with you, you could be an inspiration by finding or teaching how other people can also have the potential to be good parronts.
