I've been a woodworker since high school and in my opinion the way the stock was repaired was the right idea. If the wood grain was running in the correct direction it could easily crack if the screws on the recoil pad were tightened too much. it may not look the best, but it's the strongest fix

Good morning, CW. This is the first chance I've had to watch a video of yours since the hurricane. Overall, we did good down here, but still a lot of clean-up work. Unfortunately, the day after the hurricane, we also had a death in the family. So I haven't been able to spend much time on the internet. That being said, that's a nice rifle right there. I suspect when they shortened the buttstock. They moved the sling swivel forward, or filled in the bullseye. It's a shame they cut it because that was a beautiful piece of wood, but the work to bring it back to proper length certainly looks acceptable. It's a shame, too, that a scope mounting video on EweTube can't be shown because they're afraid it'll screw up little children! Thanks for sharing, Rat

ALL are OK but some lost allot others fared better. So many more lost everything including lives. Hurts my heart. But the good thats coming out, I am seeing in people, brightens my every day. @cw2a Yes, sir, it is amazing to see people come together to get through the storm. The eye came over us in the early morning, and the backside of the storm was worse with higher winds in the opposite direction. That's when the most damage was done. I'm working late right now tearing out drywall in a house that had a roof leak. The house around the corner is still without power, but they brought most of the power back pretty fast. Our dock down on the river was almost completely wiped out. There are piles of brush and debris everywhere, and it's gonna take a little while to get everything back to normal, but we will!

Morning CW! My eyes are getting to the point I feel like I need the assistance of a magnified optic. I was hoping to get some help when I got new glasses, but I think if anything, they make it harder to use open sights.

@@Tex_I_Can I am lucky in that a long time shooting companion/ competitor is a licensed eye Dr professional. (That means I don't know the name of her actual title.😝❤️‍🩹😝) Anyhow. Being a shooter she offers special appointments where ya "bring your gun" and she can give glasses made for focal Lengths needed for rifle/ pistol shooting!! She is a lil far of a commute for you. 😛🙏🇺🇸😛 But Ill bet there is someone near you who could do the same.

back when my eyes were young, i would say no scopes on the lever actions. but now, a scope is alright, but the aperture sight is best.
