Seeing chip pop up in old videos just hits different since he has passed on. I get this happy "aww it's chip" feeling then followed by sad "aw chips gone" feeling. Luckily these videos are here and we all can enjoy seeing chip chip when he was younger including Marling baits himself. Rest easy to the bestest bait making dog there ever was and will be

Those gill striations you were referring to are called "branchiostegal rays", and the number of those rays can be a key ID feature on some fish species

Fun fact, you can make like chipping textures (when painting) , you put your first layer, say white, then you spray 2 coats of hairspray, then you spray your second layer (say black) and then you take a brush, dip it in some water and slowly start brushing the 2nd layer, which results into it chipping off the 2nd layer. (Works best with acrylic paints) oh and also clear coat it

Been about a year since I've been able to do anything with fishing due to getting everything in my garage stolen. Long story short I've been replacing all my stuff. Got most of my power tools replaced and almost all my fly tying stuff. Bought a kayak recently and am about to get ready to start making baits again. I started cause of your videos. Every single video you make is inspiring man. Thank you for this content. My birthday is in November...I'll be 40. Hopefully by then I'll be setup to make a daily fishing/kayaking/bait making video. Sorry for the long comment just really wanted to say thanks. I'd love to buy you a cup of coffee someday. But I know you don't like to leave the house. Lol..can't really argue with that. Hearing you talk about the bad weather walleye bite reminds me of when we were out fishing for them on Erie with literal 5-6foot rollers. And of course they were biting and we stayed out enduring 8 hours of rain, cold, wind, and monster waves. Worth it. Lol.

Here in Wyoming, Walleye fishing is very popular especially in alcova because there is a 8 fish limit for walleye apposed to 5 in Pathfinder. Our state wants Alcova to be a "Trout Only" lake which means that for a lot of people, catching Walleye can be very difficult. Great video man, keep it up!

So I had a horrible day. Thanks MB for saving my sanity; great video. Also, I'm in CT and I jig chartreuse soft plastic paddle tail along the bottom and land walleye all day long. In our neck of the woods they spend 90% of their time at or near the bottom. 5 inch plastics weed out the little ones.
