The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

The issue with fly fishing is the sheer amount of elitist vibes it throws off. It's like the woodworkers who exclusively sharpen their tools off of authentic Japanese whetstones mined from mount doom. It's not wrong, but it comes across as any other option is for cavemen. Maybe it's just me. I think there's a similar vibe from the "If you use bait and not lures, you're cheating" community. Some species respond better to bait/flies/lures etc.

@@jacobhornberger8073 There's absolutely nothing wrong with fly fishing. It's a super cool technique/approach. But some people just throw out a vibe that, they're better than you because they fly fish and it's a "purer version of the sport". Similarly, some people look down on someone for using bait instead of lures. It's not everyone, but it's common enough to be off putting. Sort of how there's a similar scale with hunting. i think you should try making a lure from fossil impressions in rocks you find along shorelines. either a soft bait bugs and prehistoric fish in wood or soft metals for example? someone made a "jon boat" lure. the wake it made was what I want my fish shape lures to do. cow horn carved lure?
@unclebuzz69133 жыл бұрын
Isn't that about right. I have seen you carve the most realistic looking bait, and catch nil, Nada nothing. But they were beautiful baits, and would've caught plenty of fish, and fishermen. Then you literally build a frigging stick bait. Out of a frigging stick. Catch 3 species of fish. That's about right. You can carve perfect replicas out of the most exotic or easily carved ,sealed E. V. Light, and all the bells and whistles. Catch squat. But I have learned in my long life of being a fisherman that a commercialy built bait has to usually catch more fishermen than fish. God bless you and your loved ones Stay safe Godspeed
