Start targeting trout with just a worm on a size 6 hook below a bobber. You'll get stuff a whole lot quicker and losing 20 bucks per snag causes intense pain vs maybe 15 cents a snag

#6 is a little big for trout. I catch double didget trout on #10 gamagatsu octopus hooks. For bass, senkos......
@zhaminoes5830
@zhaminoes5830 2 жыл бұрын
In my experience smaller is better for trout. The biggest fish will eat the tiniest of hooks and flies. #14 hooks with a very small chunk of worm with a split shot a few inches up under a bobber works insanely well for trout.

14:22 "It has more action that I thought that it"ll WOOD". I see what you did there. And now, a lure idea: Make a lure out of sawdust. Like the sawdust you brush and throw away after making other lures. Just collect enough of it, mix it with a bit of resin, cast/cut/model it into a lure shape (around 3 inch [7-8cm]), clear coat it or paint it, I'll leave this one up to you and try to catch some fish with it. And as a small helpful hint about that idea, you could try to "cast it" in one of your molds, so it'll better retain the fish shape. I'd love to see you try this. But if you think it's too much of a hassle, feel free to let me know in the comment section below :)

This lure reminds me of one a friend made several years ago. He called it a wiggler. It had a very small lip on it and the but end had a small point. When retreiving the lure it would turn down but not dive. The tip would wiggle just on the surface. We used to love using it in thw spring when too water bites were happening. I would love to see you make one of these. Same size as your ball lure. Single treble hook on the bottom.

I saw the last time you made a clear wooden lure that the lead hole with baking soda leaves a grey spot on the "belly". If you want to make it look even neater you could try to use some of the sanding dust to cover it up. I have never tried it myself but it might even work to mix the sanding dust directly with the baking soda or completely substitute it. Keep up the great work :)

Guy makes amazing handcrafted lures and says " I don't hold much value in wood, I just make lures. " Talk about an understatement

I watched a video by "The fish whisperer" where he caught a lot of bass using a bird lure that looked like a small cockatiel and seemed to use the same kind of mechanics as the wasp lure. Do you think you'd try your hand making a bird lure?

In 1992, Brazilian rosewood was added to the CITES treaty, strictly banning its exportation. I remember a few guitar companies, including Gibson, being raided and getting in trouble, paying some heavy fines, for having a bunch of illegal Brazilian Rosewood a few years ago. --- The coolest thing I ever caught a fish with was a fly I made using a bit of red/white Christmas tinsel I found in the woods (for the body), a bluejay feather (for wings), and a beard hair (for legs). On the first cast, at the base of a small waterfall, I cause a Dolly Varden Trout. It destroyed my fly, but I had a nice trout dinner.
