My "20mm" measurement of the sketch was wrong. I used a measuring device that displayed and numbered 2mm increments... not sure why I own this measuring device, but hopefully you found this if confused.

(Richard here) Suggestion: Carry your rod with the tip pointing backwards. You are far less likely to snag it as you walk and break the rod tip like my brother did to my fly rod in 1953.
@xcreepyunclex94402 жыл бұрын
I personally find the opposite to be true. I prefer to keep positive control of my rod tip and for lack of better words, sew my rod through gaps in the underbrush.
@dylanmounsey75152 жыл бұрын
People say this but try walking through thick bush with a thirteen foot rod. Always on the tip always and put it through holes big enough for you to walk through. If you go tip back your basically carrying a big friggin snag point behind you for branches
@xcreepyunclex94402 жыл бұрын
@@dylanmounsey7515 Exactly, especially when you're fishing smaller wooded creeks or rivers. There's inevitably a giant briar patch that actively seeks to ruin everything you own as you duck under a fallen tree.
@TVindustries50002 жыл бұрын
I will say I do this too! i think it matters what kinda area it is. def helps sometimes to not have to think 3 steps ahead and more so know what to avoid once you're past it. I do like walkin with my rod foreward tho if theres lots of early morning cobwebs/spiderwebs thru the trees, waving it up and down to try and knock em down so I dont walk thru em lol
@MrMiguella2 жыл бұрын
Rod tip back, runners down, even if you hit a low branch it just bends at worst or if you're on the ball it tips back over your shoulder. Been carrying rods like this for nearly 30 years and never gotten snagged while walking

The Q&A & cooking pizza was cool and adds an even more relaxing, down to earth vibe to your channel. I thought of something that may help (if you will consider trying it) with the joints between the front and rear halves of the lures. If the circles / loops are too big, use the tip of your blade to carve tiny grooves/slots where the circle touches the lure (on each side of the hole you drill). This will (should) enable the loop to be pushed in slightly more making the exposed amount of loop smaller. It will (should) also help hold it securely preventing it from twisting. I’ve never seen your joints twist in the drilled out holes so your glue is great. Anyway, I’m not great at explaining this idea, so please forgive me if it doesn’t make sense. 🙏🏽 Edit: the larger loops may actually help your lure glide better like you imagined as a possibility while thinking / talking about it in this video 👍🏽

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

I just wanna say thank you for your inspiration. Your videos are awesome. I just barely started making my own baits...only about 6 baits in all active projects as I have not found a way to paint them yet (can't afford an airbrush) but making baits has sparked a new life in me and I just want to say thank you for the inspiration to start making my own. Keep making videos and keep making baits. Your awesome.
@mikewhitman7452 жыл бұрын
Paint with a brush, you'll have to adjust how the paint schemes look but that's what I do. I just put a white base coat down of rattle can paint and break out the brushes. Yes your limited but at the same time you can make details the airbrush can't so it's a trade off, as most things in life are.

12:01 I love the shape of that little bait. Because of you I've tried to make a couple smalls way back when I first found your channel. They kind of worked.
