Chito Vera is everything Masvidal wanted to be in life but never had the character to be. He seems like a guy with an iron will and hunger to fight, supported by good morals with a beautiful family around him that he really appreciates. That's the kind of fighter we can all respect and want to see.

Hmm I'm not sure on the bad character part. I think we shouldn't assume that. He seems to really love his father, mother and family. In interviews with his dad, it seems they have a great relationship. I wouldn't trust what Colby says about Masvidal's children because he is clearly playing a "wrestling like" heel image to generate more attention. Colby has been caught lying about many things including sleeping with Polyanna the fighter... she came out later and said it wasn't true and she was actually in a relationship with someone else. Masvidal in an interview said it broke his heart when his own daughter asked him why Colby was saying some of the things he was saying... that might have been what drove Masvidal to stalk and ambush Colby in public later.

They have a lot of similarities, and I do also think he's more well rounded in terms of skill, but I disagree about the bit concerning character.

I feel a lot of fighters have lost that killer instinct edge because of all this respect your opponent jibba jabba. They are not playing fighting. That dude your locked in a cage with wants to take everything you worked your ass off for. Sure after the fight look back and share great memories of two warriors fighting but before and during coaches should remind fighters that this is professional violence against the very best and you can get seriously hurt . All these fighters hugging and back slapping at face offs makes me question if that fighter is ready for war (it's super cringey to). Fare play to Marlon, he gets it.
