Always love Marlon and hate how Hollywood has ignored him. The part about anxiety and excitement. It’s the same energy, it’s just a matter of your mental direction. If you’re in fear, it’s anxiety, if it’s secure it’s excitement. He nailed it ❤

As a child, I always thought that Marlon Wayans was a bit over the top and sometimes too much but now I understand. He just felt the anxiety and would lean into it. Like masking. I do the same thing. This was a nice interview.

It makes perfect sense in Senseless, from 1998. Marlon Wayans, Brad Dourif, Matthew Lillard, and Rip Torn. That casting director understood the job.

49:45 I grew up in a an anxiety filled house of drama and just thought that’s just how people are. Then everyone in my life was the same. Argumentative teachers, friends, family, it never ended. Then I met my wife who I could immediately tell was different. She was so peaceful and fun and actually listened, but also could reason and wasn’t just trying to prove how much better than me she is…and she is. Her family are all peaceful people. Sure, there’s arguments in our marriage, but they are rarely over anything important and they usually end quick. I hold a lot of resentment for family and so called friends from my first 25 years of life in my town. In hindsight, my formative years were surrounded by bullies, but I thought they were friends because thats what I thought people who liked each other did.

wow just wow. I love this episode Marlon Wayans is the type of person you can have has a role model. I'm glad he opened up about his child and the struggles he had accepting they're change.
@hhumh69119 күн бұрын
I wish we could normalize an alternative term to replace the concept of a “role model.” It’s hardly ever the case that a person is worth following in all of their behaviors, while that concept sort of suggests they are. For one, leaving for two days and avoiding difficult conversations because it’s supposedly not part of a relationship doesn’t seem worth emulating as a rule. Man, if your girl is crying and you don’t care to soothe her because she’s triggering you, what is your relationship even about?

He seems like a good dad. I also feel his perspective on relationships. I'm sure my ASD has alot to do with it, but I try to avoid conflict whenever possible. I'm a firm believer in dealing with problems as they come, so it doesn't build to a conflict. Society on the other hand teaches us to swallow that shit deep down until you vomit it up. Imo that's why we have so much conflict in the world. We have so much of it, the powers that be, market/build fortunes on that shit.

He doesn't want to argue because he dates toxic women or he doesn't have the capacity to empathize during emotional and vulnerable conversations esp if he's the reason for upsetting someone 🤔? ...Can't tell if he doesn't respond well to yellers (which is super understandable) or he's doing a lot of rationalizing of his own immaturity, avoidant and self centered behavioral tendencies. Hmmm maybe it comes down to a bit of both.
