Marmons were the last trucks to be built by hand no robots .That's why they have so many rivets in it. My dad worked for them before they closed down

James you need a ozone generator to get the smell out of the truck. Just put it inside the truck and run it for a hour to 3 hours max it kills smells you just have to air out the truck for awhile after your done. It kills all the o2 in the area so you cant get in after your done. I have one , gets rid of mouse smells also.

Good progress on upgrading Betty w/ a big hole to the master suite. James and Jessica the fans have faith in both of you figuring out how to make the new aluminum ring fit Betty’s cab. We are curious to see what you think up to solve the problem. Betty is going to be Awesome in 2025.

Super singles look just fine. I guess that ring isn't really for a Marmon, so custom fitting is to be expected.

2 things, first off I would go with the 2 inch offset. Been running them a long time and the difference in stability is noticeable. 2nd, God bless Jessica for being out there doing what she does. Your schedule, job and hobby would break most women. It’s a strong hearted woman that works along side her man like that.

Hey JP, perhaps a stupid idea--- Cut 2 pieces off of the ring to become narrower, and add these 2 pieces to become taller- perhaps, U can accommodate the rubber gasket since the length will still b de same. This, will save U the sheet work. Stay safe

Nice job James! I see Chad is moving along well with Frank. Hopefully you won't have any bearing issues running the singles. Most don't realize when a chassis is ordered with singles the Diff housing are narrower, To take the side un sprung load off the bearings. Prime found out the hard way when they converted a couple hundred trucks from duals to singles. TGP

You mean wider so you can run a zero outset wheel and keep your track width mine are narrow requiring a 2” outset which increases load on the outer bearing

Being you aren’t gonna be working the truck hauling freight. The super single wheels should be okay. I don’t know much about offset but they look pretty good! What I may have done is cut the ring and add a few inch length wise by taking it off the width weld it back up so the ring fits the old gap. But now since you cut the cab it maybe a idea to get a pete skin with that same boot hole in and see if you can marry it to Betty's cab will look mint when she's like and this isn't a criticism just throwing idea's you may catch one or spark one of your own custom is custom after all. Those are some big tyres what are they typically used for we have super singles over here not the same as your super singles just a tad wider but not that wide, we use the supers for steer axles normally heavy haulage or just for looks, I recon those tyres you have would be good for going in a farmers field for hay bails or something a bit of floatation on soft ground the look cool

wide base singles were considered for the weight savings over having two wheels and two tires, it was intended to offer a better ride better mileage and better handling. On paper its true but in the real world people didn't like them

Just a thought, without being there directly to look.....can you use the inner extrusion that is already there as part of the ring? How close are the 2 depths cause what i'm getting at is riveting/welding the ring lip section to the existing extrusion. You would have to remove the vertical huck flange off the new ring and replace it with what is there already [so think new ring minus the vertical section of the rivet flange but ring still intact].
