How to knit a simple shrug

Marni, I came to this video hoping you would demonstrate more on how to knit this. I am a newbie knitter and would love for you to show how in more detail how to make this. You do explain real well and I think your step by step example would really be helpful to us first time knitters. keep them coming.

I have been looking for a simple, 3/4 sleeve Barre style shrug. Finally happened on yours. Going to machine knit it tomorrow after I check gauge. Yours looks fantastic! Just what I wanted. I need a little something to protect my joints, but keep sleeves out of the way of working. Also wanted sleeves not too fitted so my clothes don’t get stuck when I take it on and off. Perfect!

How many stitches should be take in the beginning?

For this pattern you need to be able to cast on, knit, purl, increase and decrease, and of course, cast off. It may be a while before I can add a step by step video, so I would recommend you look for some beginning tutorials already out there. There are many on KZbin! Best of luck and thanks for watching.

Marni.. when decrease rows.. do you mean decrease by one on each row.. or decrease by how many?? Like do you decrease every how many stitches? In each row.. I'm thinking you mean decrease by one every 6 rows if that's the case please... I'm excited to try this like A S A P.. LOL TY.. I HOPE I DIDNT CONFUSE YOU..

Hi Marni, I love your creations! One question, would I need to cast on an increased number of my needles are smaller then a 13"? I have a size 8" here and I want to stop without having to run out and get new ones? Thanks 🙂

+Renata Belev I would suggest you make a swatch first so you know how many stitches and rows per inch, then adjust the number of stitches you cast on according to the size you want to achieve. Be sure you are using 2 strands of yarn together to make this! It will require larger needles or you will have a very dense smaller fitting shrug!

What length of circular needles.are.you using? The pattern only.says us 13. Thank you
