I appreciate conversations like this, and I understand the narrative that has been perpetuated by the church regarding waiting for marriage for the gift of a "good" spouse or because you want to win gold in the purity olympics. I think it's important to go beyond this though and include in these convos the truth (for a lack of a better word). You wait, not because you will be rewarded with a good husband/wife (even though we know God gives His children good things), but because we love God and you want to honour God with our bodies. The same way you serve at Church and love your neighbour to honour and please God. Waiting for the wrong reason will produce resentment, bitterness and may cause you to settle out of frustration. So wait for the right reasons. Not saying its easy at all looll. Anyway, I loved this interview and i love Whitney even more after this!

Honestly our thoughts aren’t his thoughts, she’s doing all this booking…..how much harder would that be if she was already in a relationship/marriage. In this season she can up and go when she chooses. That man might not be that good thing in this season…. Could be a distraction from the call. Just my 2 cents. God bless her journey and her heart.

@MrsKevOnStage thank you for this podcast and talking about the feeling of being "duped". I grew up COGIC and that is how it was presented to us. I'm 47, unmarried, no children, educated, have a career and a trade. Now when I meet men they always ask why aren't you married yet or say, I can't believe you aren't married and they think something is wrong with me.
@styner3
@styner3 Жыл бұрын
High valve men don't care about your career or income, those are things you're looking for in a man. A man is looking for a woman that's sweet, loving, understanding and most importantly to a man...respectful. Next date focus on showing how great being with you could be, that's how we choose a wife. My wife was the first woman that didn't nag me during football season on Sat/Sun...that was 36yrs ago. Sometimes it's just that easy.

I like Kev's question regarding how do you maintain a posture of contentment while you wait for your life partner. I believe the answer to that question goes back to the personal relationship with God, and that intimacy with God knows exactly what you need, when you need it and exactly how much of it you need. God's omniscient power coupled with the believer's faith creates the space for peace. I actually enjoy all of this conversation. ❤😊😄 And 👏👏👏🙌🙏 for "Apostolic Pentecostal" - Best wishes to Whitney on her journey and continued successes to her Melissa and Kev.

Whitney, God is faithful. He's making the man for you. He has it all planned out if you will continue to walk it out. God taught us in Scripture against numbering what we see. We can plan, number, add, subtract and still come up with the wrong number. God has the perfect number for you...#1.

11:57 Stephan Speaks just talked about this, that if you're a woman waiting til marriage to have sex, then it might be best to express interest to a guy but stay friends, so that instead of him outright saying No to dating you cause he initially doesn't want to wait (or him getting with you and cheating to fulfill his wants), he can just get to know you more as a friend and fall in love with you that way without him feeling pressured that this must lead to marriage soon. There may be guys that are friendzoning her because they like her but aren't ready to give up sinful behaviors yet and don't want to cheat. It's a risk on their end to hope she'll still be available when they're ready for something serious. Good for her on saying "if possible" and knowing she doesn't have to wait forever for those guys to get over their lifestyles.

@lamar679 actually yes. I know now that men have 5 basic needs, sex is one of them. I understand why waiting is encouraged, though. Because sex is more than a physical experience, once you start, you want it consistently.

Love this Interview!! On a serious note it’s so hard at times, it feels like you cannot win, I was a virgin til 28 and went through 2 heart breaks since losing it. I’m 31 now and and starting over with waiting. But then it feels like I’m not married because I didn’t keep waiting 😩😩. So then if you wait and still ain’t married it feels bad too. Omggg. I tried to holla at Whitney about a year or so ago I think us being the same height was a "No" 😂. However, I hate to see the 3 getting the heavy end of the entrepreneur anchor. It's all about planning. I work 2-3 hours per day and I can easily afford my life. If I worked just 1 hour extra I'd make double but... why? So it doesn't look like a pitch to hire me as a consultant I'll lay all this down for them and anyone reading... If you want to be successful in LIFE. You must first establish what you want your life to look like. Go big and specific; what type of house, cars, how many cars, how many houses, how many kids, how many bedrooms, square footage, city, country, or suburbs, are the kids homeschooled? Just, everything. Also think about what your days look like and how much time you desire to spend "working" because the reality of it is, we will work until we die, even after retirement. We all WANT to work to some degree, we just want to get paid for our hobbies though. And doing your hobbies, is indeed "work". After you've established this list, you gotta sit down with someone wise enough to know whether your list makes any sense. Most of the time when i sit down with someone, and have them do this homework, their list is nonsense. They want a 10 bedroom house but don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning... You want a Rolls Royce, but don't realize you'll be getting gas almost every day and repairs are the cost of a used Corolla. After you've made a list that makes sense, NOW you work on creating a path toward that reality. Again, if you sit down with someone well-versed in business planning, you'll find out that it really doesn't take that much to get there. No one really needs more than $80K per year to live REALLY well. No one told you to live in a big city, you don't HAVE to have Louis bags and pay $100 for t-shirts. You can, but just know it's going to take more to get to that point. Most people just want peace, and that can be found relatively easy. With that said, Whitney if you ever decide that 5'9" ain't too short, I will totally forgive you for leaving me on read! Come holla at ya boy 😂 Datin apps teasing me with your Christian Singles picture reminding me of my rejection 🤣🤣
