Although it wasn't discussed here, I think what is missing now in Ireland is family prayer, the Rosary and mothers kneeling with their very young children before bedtime to ask God to bless each member of the family by name and neighbours and relatives in need. Thank God I grew up with this at least sporadically. Eventhough i had left home in my teens and was away from the church until my late twenties, the memory of that spirit of prayer never left me. In fact its what called me back to the Church, it felt like the big chunk of love that was missing from my life. I have heard over the years from most lapsed catholics that they never had family prayer. Without the rosary, many have forgotten the Gospel stories. They also say (as the good Fr noted here), yeah 'i believe God exists' as if that were enough. They don't know any prayers outside the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be. Saying all that, i believe a spirit of prayer needs to start in young children's lives and the parents needs encouragement here. I enjoyed this interview, Thank you and God Bless you both.

Thank you Fr. Luke and Fr. Patrick. I met Fr. Patrick in Knock some months back. I didn't realise he was a celebrity priest at the time 😁 We are blessed to have you both along with so many other fine priests. We prayed for you all at Mass on Croagh Patrick yesterday 🙏

I mean you go to maynooth, they make you doubt the bible due to their abuse of the historical critical method and you leave the faith. It's a common story.
