This is a great video idea, people share their experience using your courses. Very inspiring and gives me hope.

Thank you! Marriage Helper was a Godsend that absolutely helped save my marriage. Nobody teaches you how to be a great husband or great wife, it's assumed that you can figure it out. Then we're told that "it shouldn't be this much work". What in life that's worth doing isn't work? Through this process, I learned so much about myself, how to be a better husband, how to be a better manager, how to be a better father, how to be a better man, etc. Today I am a volunteer for Marriage Helper and will be forever greatful to Dr. Beam, his wife Alice, and many more in the organization that made our reconciliation possible. Here's the first podcast I listened to: www.blogtalkradio.com/marriagehelper/2016/04/19/the-first-step-to-take-when-saving-your-marriage-with-kimberly-holmes. After this, I joined the Save My Marriage Course: marriagehelper.com/save-my-marriage/. About 15 months after I joined the course, Vanessa agreed to attend the Couples Workshop with me: marriagehelper.com/workshops/. Today we have been reconciled over four years and we've learned/gained the tools we need to have real conversations about some of the tough topics every couple faces. There IS hope!

Churches and counseling centers really need to adjust their attitudes to being conducive to healthy, permanent marriages. My heart rejoices at every marriage saved. God is also very pro-marriage, as it states plainly in many verses of the Bible. Note to Ryan: He wanted you to figure it out for yourself. 😊

When you said you let her go did you sign divorce papers?
@ryanbates72592 жыл бұрын
No. I stopped trying to hold onto her and the marriage and changed my mindset.

Listening to them is bitter sweet...it sounds like my life... I am fearful for them. It seems as if he will have to prove himself for the rest of his life; prove that he is perfect. I understand her pain, but did she forgive fully?
@ryanbates72592 жыл бұрын
Nah, it's not like that at all! I don't have to continue proving myself and haven't. Has she forgiven me fully? Only she can answer that, but I don't want to waste time worrying about something I can't control. There's been plenty of forgiveness on both sides as we've come to the conclusion that unforgiveness holds us captive, and neither of us wants that.

I don’t get it. She wasn’t into the marriage right from honeymoon. Now it’s all his fault and he has to change himself, she is just observing and waiting? What is she doing for the marriage? Also, if a man starts watching p..n, there is obviously a lack of fulfilment and there is something she can do about it.
@phillipjones6113 жыл бұрын
Agreed, wish my wife would see it that way, not that she knows I do it, or maybe she does but doesn't care, it saves her giving me fulfillment. I believe she should give fulfillment, but she has MH issues, and forcing her to do that would destroy her, send her back into a breakdown situation.

The porn thing is far more complicated than that. More often than not it's an addiction at least in so far as what it does to reason & logic. Long term porn use rewires the reward center of the mind. On a simplistic level its like rationalizing cocaine or methamphetamine use for weight loss; you will likely loose weight with those drugs but the other behavioral changes far outweigh the benefits of weight loss. With porn you do get your endorphin rush but like drugs or alcohol you have to increase the amount & type to get the same high. You can't chase unicorns forever trying to fulfill their needs. Chasing a fantasy is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow; it doesn't exist. Reality is happiness is what you choose to make it wherever you are in life

Because he loves her. And he is the first one who wants to fix their broken marriage - my opinion.

It’s the other partner’s fault if the spouse watches porn?? You’re either extremely young or totally clueless.

My porn abuse had absolutely NOTHING to do with my wife's choices. It was a decision I made. She can't control me any more than I can control her. You weren't there for the first 22 years of our marriage to see the amount of work this woman put into our marriage and family. You didn't see the daily sacrifices she made. You don't know the ways I treated her. While she chose to walk down the road she did, I paved every inch of that road and made it very easy to walk on.
