This older Stihl 026 chainsaw was found in the trash, along with 3 other Stihl saws.
I will make a playlist called “ Stihl Dumpster Chainsaws” and if you want to see the videos about all 4 of the dumpster saws you will be able to find them all there! I documented every one of them!
Click here to watch dumpster saws: • Dumpster And Scrap Yar...
We know nothing about this saw EXCEPT that someone threw it in the trash! I want to know why.
Come with me, let’s find out!
In this video, we will also circle back to the Stihl 024 that aired a week prior to this video. We have a few things to look at and chat about! (Like why does it have 210 PSI of compression?)
Thank so much for being here!

I would like to thank you for your videos. I am 75 years old and have been looking for something to keep me busy. After watching your videos, I have decided to try fixing junk Stihl saws. I have an old 028 with a point system and love it. In my opinion, best saw out there. Anyway, I now 12:41 have begun messaging of free saws that no one wants. So far I have 4 Stihls and am fixing them up. One had a bad break that melted the housing. That is now fixed and runs great. I have now started working on an 0351. It appears the compression valve was pushed out. The carb is also very dirty. Thanks again. Keep up the great work.

Hi Erika, you asked about „Mahle“ on the cylinder: Mahle is a famous and big supplier to the automotive industry based in Stuttgart Germany. So they are basically „just around the corner“ of the Stihl headquarter. They are famous for the quality of the parts they produce which, among others, are almost all parts of an combustion engine. They make parts as small as for a chainsaw and as big as for a freightship engine. Among those are cylinderheads, crankcases, pistons, piston rings, crankshafts, valves and lots more. They employ over 72000 employees in their factories worldwide.

Love the channel and the videos. Please don’t change anything - the length, details, and commentary are keys to our understanding. Also really appreciate the 026 video. Purchased one new in ‘96 - and love its versatility and reliability. It’s still my go-to saw for most jobs. Getting harder to order parts for it though - with six 026 variants, and multiple ‘updates’ through the years having your serial number and the official Stihl 026 (1121) parts list are key.

Hello Erica Mahle is a very big automotive supply company mainly known for pistons camshafts etc. In the meanwhile they also produce everything related to thermal management, filtration and and lots of electronic stuff. Back in the days they had their own casting foundries still in Germany producing the cylinders for stihl. You'll find Mahle on many old stihl cylinders of different series. Both companies are located just 20km from each other. Gilardoni is an Italian piston and cylinder producer which is in some way a competitor of Mahle

Thanks for a great video. It's been nice to have a class on the 026 red lever saw before I start working on the one I have. I hope mine will turn out well. I like the upgrade to the wall in your shop. Wood is always nice. Hope you and your family are having a very happy New Year!

Those old chainsaws look like they have character. Hopefully you can sell them to caring owners who will appreciate them. You have a natural ability to be a good teacher. I wonder if you knew that before you started these videos? If you doubt that, all you have to do is read the wonderful comments. Thanks for teaching us! PS: I think you are purposefully keeping us in suspense to see the two-man Hornet. You know us viewers well. We are suckers for chainsaw drama!

Believe me, I'm a pressure / vacuum convert! No worries about the length of the video - I find them thoroughly informative and entertaining. Thanks too for the jet settings; whilst some of the online info suggests either side of one turn, you demonstrate they are correct.

Where i am in Australia, I’d have to drive 8hours to see snow in winter, which i have only once in my 60 years, when i was a 9yo. So I’ll just enjoy it via video. Thanks again for your calm demeanour delivering informative content with a touch of sarcasm n fun

Just one voice, but you are doing a wonderful job with your videos. I have learned so much. I am close to retirement and your channel will help me fill the extra time as I will be on the lookout for abandoned equipment. You’re never to old to learn and I have really enjoyed watching and learning from you and your husband. The fireplace and wood burning was a great idea and lets us know that you guys have your heart into what you do. Your channel will grow…Happy New Year and may you be filled with peace, joy, happiness and good health with prosperity with the channel and y’all’s business!!

Another terrific video from the Great White North! The walkaround evaluation to assess condition. Diagnostics to determine failure and the steps to go through to get a repair that is complete. The step by step procedure is what makes your videos fascinating and the additional minute of B roll footage makes them entertaining. The quality of your editing sets you apart from many others who may have similar content. Would a tech spend an hour to diagnose and repair a dumpster find 20 + year old saw? Not if collecting a paycheck was important! But you take the excellent training you received and provide it to 22,000 + subscribers. With over 2 million views of your videos, your channel is building a following. Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year and thank you.

Happy New Year Erica. Great video. I love all your thoughts and guesses as to what happened to the saw in its working life. I also like the preambles to your repairs. I like both the shorter and the longer videos - they are always interesting. Well done. Keep going. I’ll always be looking for your videos.

SUGGESTION - Perhaps you could make a small open shed to use when test-running saws. Maybe even with a small workbench to rest the saw on. Maybe even with a can of mix to fuel up. Standing in the rain/snow looks unpleasant.
