Tony with Newt and Crystal review Mars Attacks! In this Podcast / Movie Review of this underrated Tim Burton film they will talk about all the things that make it hilarious! Like the cartoony aliens, the start studded cast playing against type, and the over the top mayhem!
A fleet of Martian spacecraft surrounds the world's major cities and all of humanity waits to see if the extraterrestrial visitors have, as they claim, "come in peace." U.S. President James Dale (Jack Nicholson) receives assurance from science professor Donald Kessler (Pierce Brosnan) that the Martians' mission is a friendly one. But when a peaceful exchange ends in the total annihilation of the U.S. Congress, military men call for a full-scale nuclear retaliation.

The game that Crystal was talking about where you play as a Zombie is Stubbs The Zombie! Very similar tone to Mars Attacks, all set in a 1950's era world. Such a fun game!

I came here to say this. As a kid it was a game I would stare at in EGM and Xbox magazine. I still have never played it. It deserves a sequel too I'm sure!

@@Zawfee They recently came out with re-mastered version of Stubbs The zombie (Also "Destory all humans!" has been remastered as well!)...So you have a great opportunity to finally play it! But honestly, while Stubs is a decent fun game, you really didn't miss out on much. It's pretty generic open-world game the kind that were so popular in the early 2000's, and was actually pretty short with nothing really ground-breaking or super unique about it (except for playing as a zombie/bad guy thing but IMO that wasn't really executed very well and came across as lazy gimmick more than a integral part of the game). Overall, "Destroy All Humans!" is a better game and experience, even though that game also sufferers from the same issues, but at least playing as an alien felt more more fleshed out and unique enough game-play, that it felt like it stood out more, was better polished and engaging experience.

Newt, did you notice that The Martian Ambassador who fights Byron the Boxer is *also* a champion fighter among Martians? He had a championship belt under his cloak. That might have been the reason they were exercising on the airstrip.

Yes! This is one of my favorite Tim Burton movies! It's like his homage to 1950s hollywood sci-fi movies. If only they had gotten Leslie Nielsen to reprise his role in Forbidden Planet this would be a perfect movie.

I loved this movie when it first came out when I was 12 years old. People did not understand that this movie was an homage to bad 50's science fiction movies and gave it bad review when it was released. At 12 I got it and knew it was satirical. Such a fun movie with a great cast.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I like Mars Attacks a lot more than Independence Day. Mars Attacks just has a much more interesting and colorful cast of characters than that movie. Plus, I love that Mars Attacks is a love letter to shlocky '50s sci-fi movies.

Not to knock on Newt, but i always thought it was "The Frighteners" that was Michael J. Fox's last big live action film role. But regardless of which film was his last, what ways to go out from,."Frighteners" and "Mars Attacks", along with "From Dusk Till Dawn" were the three big budget sci-fi and horror films from '96 to me that I will always cherish and love.

Actually this came out in Christmas "96 and the Phoenix Lights was in March of 1997. Because of this came out in Christmas is why the people turned into red and green skeletons. Also, there is a lot of reference of The Earth VS. The Flying Sauces. In fact, I think, I could be wrong, I think the UFOs are the exact models from that movie.
