If you guys really like the vibe of the Original jubilee but have a 2555x, use 50 watt mode, it has less bite and is nearly identical to the originals vibe. Me personally I prefer 100watt mode, its more articulate and cuts better, but if you want smooth with less edge go 50 watt mode, no matter what you do the volume will be there even in 50 watt mode. Here's the thing, Santiago who designed the reissue 2555x said that the old Jubilee pots had such a variance between each other (let alone comparing them to the 2555x) for instance where 7 would be on the old Jubilee might be 5 or 6 on the 2555x Reissue, so with that said, minus the potentiometers they are the same circuit, so you must use your ears to set them up to sound the same, not preset eq numbers. Also tube brands and types can play a role. What further complicates things are that the Jubilee controls are very sensitive on both old and new, little changes make a BIG difference, so use your ears not presets!.

Great demo. Using chords rather than a shredded mixolydian mode that no one can determine tone!!! Both sound great. I've got a '78 JMP for rhythm and runnin a boogie for lead. But after a VIP visit to Marshall HQ - and viewing YOUR vid, I'm going Jubilee. Dave / AUSTIN GOLD

Both sound fantastic, but I prefer the old one. It's just got a certain smoothness to it that the reissue doesn't.

There are many things that in a comparison like this should be taken into account.. Poweramp and preamp tubes (brand and how much they have been used), components wear and change the sound within the years, so for me the differences are all in this. They sound similar but not identical, the newer one has more top end sizzle (and usually is the same thing you notice when you put new tubes in the amp. Great amps anyway.

You found the sweet spot on the original amp. My favorit setting is to cranck up the master volume to around 3 o' clock and then use the pre-amp volume for desired volume.

Good demo but the mistake is to put the same values on the amps. It is the ear that must be judged and not numbers. I think you can get a better result like this.
@AB-80X3 жыл бұрын
You cannot. I've had the new home as I was considering it as a backup. It cannot sound even close to an original. Tried settings, rolled tubes and all the other tricks. It's just a cheaper amp which lacks the components of the original. You are better off running a TSL2000 hot with E34L's. That sounds very close. Requires tubes a bit more often, but hey, the Jubi 2555 eats tubes too.

I know this is a comparison and we’re splitting hairs.. to my ears both sound good but different. More gain in the reissue and slightly more modern. Both have that signature Jubilee tone, darker and thicker. In the mix both would sound like a Marshall cause they are and would get it done. Read somewhere the reissue’s circuit is not exactly the same as the original. They made “improvements to the design.” I had an original 2554 and honestly only liked it when I was able to turn it up loud through a 4x12. I also played through a few 2555’s which belonged to friends. I also had at the same time three older Marshall heads (1969-1971) 100 watt Super Leads to compare them too. For the right price I’d buy the reissue and roll some tubes.
@Joshcheyka2 жыл бұрын
The circuit itself is the same, however better relays were used for the channel switching, made to be more reliable, combine that with the fact that you can run ANY type of typical power tube in the 2555x that you want, there really is no fucking cork sniffing reason NOT to get a 2555x, you even get a 5 year no questions asked warranty!.
@albertasani456916 күн бұрын
They sound pretty similar. The original is less punchy, I would think adding a compressor pedal with a fast attack before the reissue would get you a closer sound to the original.

The original one sounds better, it's a fact. But the new one kicks ass too! And it costs almost half the money. I'm buying one!

It does not kick ass. It does not kick at all. It's a weak sounding amp with too much hiss in the sound. Sounds like most other china amps these days.

Different tubes!! older tubes in the old one I'd guess.
@AB-80X3 жыл бұрын
There's more to it. There's a lot less "attack" and bite on the individual notes on the new one. The "S" sounds are more pronounced which will become a big pain if you try to boost it. I have the old amp and run all sorts of tubes in mine, and no matter whether they are EL34, E34L, KT77, 6L6 or KT88, it never has that cheap sounding sibilance on the distortion. Old TSL2000 amps go for less than these and can sound shockingly close to a original Jub 2555 if you know what you are doing.
@btlong203 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree. There’s no way to do a completely accurate comparison on these two amps and come to the assumption being made. The older Jub is almost 35 years old. It’s going to be warmer than the newer one. All these gear videos comparison videos always have the same result..:.the older one is warmer. It’s the components and tubes aging that makes it warmer. Everything old isn’t warmer and better. And everything new is crap. It’s alway the same people saying the same things on the internet about gear theyve never tried.....
@AB-80X3 жыл бұрын
@@btlong20 Age is not the issues. I have four of the originals. Two are yet to be opened up for anything other than tubes, and two have been completely rebuilt with new caps etc. They sound the same. Had the new one home for a demo for about a month, and it is nowhere near the original. As with most modulation amps, they are not even close.
