Cranking Preamp Volume is typically advised on 6100s. If you need to tame volume, use Master.

a few months ago i was in guitar center trying out s used prs. i needed something to plug into. they said just use the amp sitting behind you. barely looked and plugged in the cable. didn't touch any knobs . and in a few seconds i realized i was getting the best tone ive ever heard. i put down the guitar and said.. i need this amp. no matter what. it was a 6100 lm and she lives with me now.

I brought one of these amps, it sounded great but the Sovtek 5881wxt tubes were 10 years old so I had them changed with TAD 6L6GCM-STR Redbase tubes. They added harsh/fizzy highs and a boomy low end and I couldn't get the amp to sound right, so the Sovteks went back in and the amp sounds great again.

, I've got one of these since new when I'm changing the valves I only put Marshalls in did some sovtek once but I now only get the Marshall valves to keep this beast where it belongs

@@CarstenStepanowicz Ich habe beide auch schon über ne 4x12 gespielt und der 6100/6101 hat genau die richtigen Gain Reserven den JVM kann man nur bis 12 Uhr aufdrehen dann hat man Dauerfeedback . Ich würde den 6100 gern noch mal mit nem SD1 spielen

@@bernddoolmann5597 Bis 12 Uhr trau ich mich gar nicht beim JVM 😂. Das wird ab 10 Uhr teilweise schon zu viel. Aber der JVM ist klar tighter. Der 6100 ist super pedalfreundlich. Hab ihn aktuell mit nem Tubescreamer laufen, aber ein SD1 ist sicher auch super!

I would recommend the 6100LM for any guitar player who is looking for the classic Marshall tones with a tad bit more gain. If you‘re more into metal, go for the JVM410H. I personally gravitate a bit more to the JVM solely because when playing live the footswitch is a bit better (doesn‘t matter if you play midi). Soundwise I prefer the tones coming from the 6100lm! 🤘

Damn your playing is fantastic! You really make that amp sound good, so glad I decided to not sell mine. Had it posted for a month but after doing some research I realized it needed power tubes so I kept it and bought some Svetlanas

Since the early 90s got this new never needed any pedals. Dialled in right it's all there. I do use two valve tape wem copycats for reverb and echo etc but that's it

Hey Jim! Thank you! It's great to see the channel growing little by little! It was definitely inspired by The Darkness 😁 My ankle is almost back in the game. I can walk longer distances without pain, which is awesome. As long as you do not invite me to run a marathon next week, I assume I'll be fully recovered within the next 2 weeks. Hope to be on the road again soon. I miss the stage! 🤘

How would you describe the difference to the DSL20 regarding metal tones? I heard John Browne from Monuments say that this is his favorite Marshall amp. So I'm interested in your opinion. Thanks

You get way more options to tweak your sound with the 6100LM. I'd say it sounds bigger overall. The gain isn't as compressed as on the DSL20, which makes it even more pedal friendly. I agree with Mr. Browne. Throw a boost in front of the amp and use channel 2 or 3 and you're good to go.
