This damn kid is right. I lowered my channel volume and I like it. You have to really get things out of whack to make this amp sound bad. I am totally satisfied

Okey, so i will make update videos throughout this journey, as there are alot of factors that play into good sound with amps.. i was at my first band rehersal today, and i had to tweak it alot to get it to sound how i wanted. The room is very boomey, and all my mids and definition disappeared. Turning mids up didn't sound good, and i actually ended turning mids down, and just turning the volume up a quite a bit to be able to cut through. I will make update videos for settings best in different scenarios as i go through it myself😁

I have the Marshall DSL40C (previous version of your amp). I love the tone of the amp. It has a great 'Marshall' sound. I can never use mine for home practice. It's just too loud for my house. It is not really a 'bedroom amp'. To practice I use my Boss Katana 50 MKII and run it through my headphones.
@jeremymiller69335 ай бұрын
I use the master volume for attenuation. I use the channel volume to push the pre amp without having to turn the gain too high. With an SD1 boost, having the master at 2 and the channel volume at 7, it's breathing fire at a somewhat reasonable bedroom volume.

Had my DSL40cr for almost 4yrs... Struggled getting my tone where i liked it until i gave up using my pedal board. Left EQ all at noon, master where i needed it for "bedroom volume", and tweaked between my gain and guitar volume until it felt right for my own style of playing. I only mess with EQ when playing live. It adjusts for the room (big, small, cold, warm, etc...). Once i had all this dialed in, i ditched my distortion and overdrives. I use fuzz up front for some stuff, along with delay and reverb in the FX channel. Thats it. This amp is 100% perfect. Just needs rebiasing from time to time and i only use the high, full watt setting. Seriously... it pays to tweak settings methodically. Start with just gain and go from there.

I have the same issue. I don't sweat it much anymore. Even when im playing through headphones on my ir200 the resonance from the floor works almost as a speaker. So they always know. I know when their kids are playing. As long as it isn't over 60, there isn't much they can do. Marshall hit it out of the park with both the 40 and og50. You can get a nice sparkle on the 50. It has those nice old fender tones but with big ol balls. You can't get the same tones from a hotrod or deville without making your eardrums bleed.

I have the 20 watt version of this amp, the DSL20cr, and that switched to 10watt mode can be played in a apartment taking a little care not to turn the bass up too much, this amp produces a good amount of bass! especial if you're a chugger. The bass is very tight and sounds really good, hard to turn it down but it's what your neighbors are going to hear. Also, I play my amp using a 1x12 extension cabinet so I'm pushing two Greenback 25 watt speakers. That in 10 watt mode, gain/volume @ noon shakes the walls!! But sounds SO sweet!! Right now the DSL20CR can be had for 660.00 new at sweetwater but I got mine for 599.00 at ZZounds but they're currently out of stock. have fun!

The only way to control clean and dirty volumes with an origin is to use your guitars volume pots .. you have to set it so that you get your distortion by turning up the volume pot . You have to use your Volume pot like its a boost . The best way is to use your neck pickup for clean tones . Roll down the neck volume for clean and when you want drive switch to the bridge pickup with the bridge volume pot set between 8 to 10 . Thats how guys managed this issue when amps were all single channel . Now of course that doesnt work for every situation or style but that is the only option you have with an Origin JTM 45 1959SLP/Plexi or 1987 Bluesbreaker

Yea the secret is to turn up the Master over half way up, gain just past noon, then use Volume to control how loud it is, that Cranked Master Volume keeps the tube running hot and you get a great sound at very low volume using the Volume at probably 1 or 2 so far the neighbors arent complaining
@themusketeer945810 ай бұрын
As a mostly bedroom amp player, i would absolutely recommend this. Crank either the master, or the volume and use the other one to decide the actual volume. If you have a blues driver or some other pedal, combined with maybe a reverb, you can get all the tones you could want for very cheap. As i said, i have an origin, and had to buy so much extra gear too make it playable at home it was ridiculous. I will make a short video of the tones i can get out od this amp at home, and after the next band practice, i will make an updated video on the settings to get it sounding great at louder volumes😊

@themusketeer9458 channel volume = pre amp tubes. Master volume = power amp tubes. People on forums say that most of the tone on the dsl is produced by preamp tubes so if you crank the master but turn down the channel volume, you're losing most of the rich tone. According to what I've read

I have both amps. Same deal with the Origin 50. I can’t make it work even with a Weber attenuator. On the DSL i use a line selector boss pedal to use as a master on the fx loop. If you mix both amps is does sound very cool. I wonder what have you done to make the origin work for you. I use: Origin 50: Mid on output Presence 7 Master 10 (attenuator around 2-3) Treb 2.5 Mid 3.5 Bass 2.5 Tilt 7 Gain 3 no boost DSL 40c OG (no master) Classic gain (crunch) Gain 5 Vol 10 (line selector volume around 2-3 on fx loop) Ultra gain (od1) Gain 2 Master 7-8 (fx loop 2-3) Treb 6.5 Mid 4 Bass 3 No tone shift Presence 4.5 Resonance 2 No reverb Les Paul humbuckers guitar mostly. Use both amps on stereo and edge of breakup to add pedals for boost, solo or fxs. Stock dsl 40c with 70/80 celestion and origin runs into Marshall cab from the 70’s with v30 new ones. Cool video man
