Another great demo Budda. I learn so much about how the tone controls shape the sounds of amps from your different videos. Not just turning everything up to 7 as I used to do. One thing worth noting here is that, Mike Scuffham of Scuffham Amps was the designer of this Marshall JMP-1 back in the nineties. He currently markets his software amp simulation software called S-Gear on his web site. It's regarded as the best amp simulator in the world my many well known guitarist.

I have a wall of plexi’s, including some others. The Marshall JMP-1 will give you whatever you need and more. It has a way of making you clean your act up when it comes to playing. Takes rack effects and pedals better than anything out there. As of now the Marshall EL34 100/100 is getting hard to find. Rockers are finding out how good this tone is and they’re disappearing. Gig Rig G2 through effects loop using Wet Dry Wet through 3 4X12 Cabs is mind blowing. Blues, Hard Rock and metal. Don’t hesitate.

The JMP-1 is excellent for Blues and hard rock. I like the clean sound also. Effects loop is parallel, so you have to set the FX 100% wet-then mix in the effect between zero and 20.I did this with a flashback delay and it worked perfectly-a little goes a long way. I never set mine higher than three.

I think it was about 500 or 600 American in 2000. It was almost as much as the EL34 100/100 which was 650. The jmp1 with the 50/50 or 100/100 sounds great but alot of people dont like them now...go figure. Ive noticed that anything heavy is not liked anymore. My guitar is too heavy, my amp is to heavy and my speakers are too heavy. I blame the soy. Best run through for this device. Great channel Buddah.

Ah ah! That’s a trend and people are doing smaller and lighter things better and better. It happened with drums. They used to be huge for sound!!! Now they put a mic on the kick drum and everyone sounds like Lars Ulrich

Interestingly, the MB Triaxis full midi, all tube preamp competitor was released only 1 year prior to the JMP-1. The triaxis was a lot more expensive though, and of course, gave predominantly 'mesa' sounds.

i have a few different guitars and i like these midi preamps because i can plug in multiple guitars and not have to fiddle with tones.... bank 1-10 could be for my single coil strat, banks 11 - 20 could be for my wolfgang, and banks 21 - 30 can be for my SG. and i don't have to spend any time tayloring anything. just plug in and play, and i play different guitars and different tones often. if you just have one guitar and one or two tones, this type of system doesn't make sense for you.
@BuddaGuedes4 жыл бұрын
It’s a great concept. But even with few or one guitars this setup might be helpful. It’s not easy to find an amp with two different drives, two different cleans and multiple configurations like a light overdrive a midrange boosted overdrive a fast overdrive a shopped clean sound etc .

When they first hit the market in the mid 90's they cost £480 sterling, I got the full set up JMP1, Marshall 9100 dual mono bloc 50/50 pwr amp, two Marshall 1912 (150 watt 12" celestion) out stereo via a quadraverb and still use it all today, btw, your mix won't do anything if you haven't pacthed anything in to the effects loop ..

@@BuddaGuedes.. thank you, yes it has served me well all these years, I can switch everything by midi, though now I have retired from gigging due to health issue but still play every day, I did consider selling the Marshall rig for something more compact and lighter, maybe just get a good combo, but every time I play through it I just know I would regret selling it, maybe some day as it is a proper full gig set up, ya never know ..

@@BuddaGuedes its an old video, but by now you probably learned to connect the jmp1 master out to the return of the loop in a marshall head and NOT input ;) (you switch the preamp in the marshall head and use the power section instead) then you will be blown away .. !

I have one of these coming I can't wait for my partner app I'm going to be running the jmp-1 through the Windsor 100- head do I run up cable from send of the jp1 to the Windsor effects Loop return would that be bypassing the preamps and just using the power amps? Dig your videos and playing brother keep them coming thanks
@BuddaGuedes5 жыл бұрын
Yes. Usually if you connect the out of the JMP-1 to the return of the effects loop of an amp(as I did in this video) you’re just using the power amp section! In my amp not even the master volume works. Thanks for your support

The jmp-1 dirty channel has one tube in it, it isn't really a tube amp. It has one tube stage and a cathode follower. The distortion is generated by diodes like a distortion pedal, not by tubes. It sounds good though, use your ears.

I never tried one and, to be honest, I didn't like it back in the 90s, but I'm curious. When you mentioned that it sounds like crap when you plug it directly to an interface, did you tried it with Impulse responses or just the direct sound? I'm guessing that with good impulse responses it might not sound that bad (that should be an interesting test). From around the same era you could get a 100v 8100 which must be one of the most underrated marshalls ever, great for heavier rock or metal. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn-zoaGgrsubgtk To me it always sounded better than the JMP1 by some reason, and today you can get them for around the same price.
@Aaron-zh4kj5 жыл бұрын
Fun fact, Nine Inch Nails used these all through their album "Broken". They didn't use the emulated out, as Trent Reznor wasn't a fan. Instead, apparently, they went out into a Zoom 9030, to act as a cabinet. So, maybe listen to their sound and experiment to find something you like.
@dayglo984 жыл бұрын
It does indeed sound MUCH better with other impulses instead of the built-in cabsim.
