i have that amp too and it's great to run the line out from an 80 watt Marshall into the 30 and have two slightly different amp tones. i also have an Electroharmonics POG and run the dry out into the 80 watt and the wet out into the 30 watt for a monstrous Metal tone. amazing for doing Sabbath riffs through two amps

I have the exact same amp at home for daily use. It’s pretty versatile and loud enough for a jam or mini gig.

....you be a damn good sound out of it too, have often been hooked by it in your particular rig; you actually gave me appetite to use the amp's own drive channel for its own natural sound. I couldn't get on with it and just used pedal into the clean,but hearing yours encouraged me to persist. Cheers mate!🍀

@@blacktoothfox677 thanks Tim. The step up from the MG15 to the MG30 is remarkably nice 😊 It’s more power and the tone shapes differently through the 10 inch speaker. I did once a comparison between the boss DS1 and the in-house overdrive from the Marshall. The DS1 won it but the Marshall was very close.

I have one of these too, surprisingly loud for 30 watts. Like you said , clean is nice and dirty is nice, way nicer dirty for me. It sounds great with a high distortion pedal on the clean channel too. Have one for me Mal, I'm currently glugging one for you. 👍👍👍☮☮☮☮☮☮

Figures that you picked up that guitar for demonstration of the Mashall amp. Yesterday I passed up on a 82 Ibanez Roadstar ll that I believe was a great price. Pictures and add said it barely left the case. Red with white scratch plate, three red single coils, red headstock $250, original case. Called for home heating oil yesterday $5.26 a gallon X 250 gallons, do the math. Looked on Marketplace this morning and guitar sold, I don't think the guitar was up for 24 hours gone. Looks like no purchases until spring.

I was at a small gig...guitarist had a fancy Gibson Les Paul and Marshall combo and was getting a really good sound. Had a closer look at the amp assuming it would be a DSL or something similar. Turned out it was an MG 30.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm still new to this stuff. But could this be considered a modeling amp? I really love it, My aunt bought me this amp and a gretsch guitar from a pawn shop this past summer, and I've had a blast playing it even though I don't know how to play half of what you just did. Great video, man. Thanks!
@plantagenant3 ай бұрын
No. Modellers are generally trying to duplicate multiple amps, whereas this has got one sound....Marshall. You could argue its a solid state Marshall amp trying to copy a Marshall valve amp, but that's nitpicking. For what its' worth, I actually think these are pretty good for home use, small gigs.

@MADMALKOАй бұрын
as long as hes not john bonham yes , i used one of these playing along with bass and drums and it sounds great at full volume - if you want clean perhaps not but if you are happy sounding like judas priest (and who isnt? -thats why you bought a marshall) yes its loud enough for rehearsals even without sticking it through the pa

I used to have an MG50 in the 90’s. It was terrible. Sounded tinny and thin. Couldn’t dial anything on that amp. I ended up selling it, and eventually bought a DSL100 head.

Wish we lived in a solid state.. Oh yeah sorry we were talkin bout amps. Solid states alway get shat on but they are the most reliable amps on the market. Couldn't test gear without one.

I find the sound of solid state amps quite good. Additional to that they are often much cheaper and they don’t need maintenance too much.

That MG is absolute piss. In fact it was so bad i chucked it in the local skip to send it for landfill. Atrocious garbage from Marshall. Dismantling their once great reputation one shitty amp at a time. All made in the far east.
