Ha ha brought back some memories. My dad used to use the 52M19 and I used to use the TT12 MirrOlures in stump Lagoon when I was a kid on the worst cold windy days in January!! I am 56 now so that gives you how long ago lol. Enjoyed the video man!!

25:08 🤣 i’ve never seen that footage. I bet that did scare the shit out of you. That’s why I don’t serve fish anymore. I quit surf fishing when Fourchon was still open twice in one afternoon, had a close encounter with a shark, and it attacked my stringer, scared me enough that I won’t do it again, there’s too much in the water and on the bottom that can hurt or kill, like mess around and step on a stonefish anyway, I’m glad you’re still here to relive that moment.

The MR52s have always been one of the most productive mirrolures i've thrown for trout, and big trout at that. You just gotta keep them moving in shallow water.

We hit eden isles on 1/18 and almost caught a 2 person limit of speckled trout all between 15 and 18 inches and brother caught biggest 5.5lbs and we let her go and plenty of big white trout water was dirty and the only color the speckled trout wanted was matrix shad in avocado and you had to literally drag on bottom if jig they wouldn't hit it but fantastic fishing for this time of year and only 2 other boats out there

My Dad's favorite was the TT28. We fished it plenty back in the day. Mainly trolling the trestle or ICW and casting it around the Castle in Lake Borgne. Caught plenty of hammers on that bait.

Great video, you guys must be on the south side of the wall up at the north end of the Mr. go. It generally stays shallow up there. I haven’t been up there at all last year didn’t wanna make that drive into New Orleans through the projects to get to shell beach it’s the only way I know how to get there. im not familiar with any other boat Launch’s.

I’ve personally been hesitant to try older bait techniques, but after watching this, I’m definitely giving it a shot. Do you think this bait works equally well in both freshwater and saltwater environments? Would love to hear your take on that!

When using hard plastics…bait cast setup has advantages over spinning setup!!!!
@JustinB-c5p7 күн бұрын
I use spinning for certain lures that do not cast well into the wind. I find casting distance of utmost importance with jerk and twitch baits but definitely curious to know what advantages you see?

Really enjoy your channel! But have a question on you tagging the trout. Do you think they survive much? I have trout fished for 15+ years and never seen or heard of anybody catching a tagged trout. Do you think their light scales can handle it unlike reds? Curious to hear your thoughts

I've been tagging for almost two decades. Historically, in Louisiana, about 3% of tagged speckled trout are recaptured.

Is it the 52MR-28 or 52MR-704? All are the pink over yellow, but I can't find any explanation of the diffrence in the back #.
@JustinB-c5p13 күн бұрын
There is a pink over yellow with gold sides and a pink over chartreuse with silver sides. Not sure if that clears anything up.

@@JustinB-c5pnot trying to be sarcastic but it’s shallow up there , my mullet wake baits run around 2 ft with good crank , 1/4 oz #4 wire trebles I bend the hooks slightly out , never los a fish from throwing a hook , a catch 2000 electric chick can do some serious damage to trout up there as well , I have a box of M52’s but use them in deeper water, I don’t have enough transom to deal with idiots up there , short shaft motor , or I’d put a hurting bon them

@barrywuthrich853013 күн бұрын
Ha! I just did the same thing last week. I was on topwater trout fishing a Spook Jr. over some mud flats when the wind got up and blew the clouds away. Trout were tapping my tout and dropping it before I could get a hook set. A cross wind was bowing my line on a popping cork rig so I couldn't hook up, so I grabbed a 52mr and caught a few more trout. That lure must be 15 years old, and it casts a mile. When I got it home, I did get some pliers and cut the middle hook off. I threw a green back/silver side, but I have that pink and yellow also. We call that color the Texas Chicken.
@dustinchotto273113 күн бұрын
Why do you feel the need to tag all these trout? Quit tagging your decreasing growth and making them more vulnerable to predators dude. You think you’re doing something good but you’re not doing anything to help. In fact you are a problem. Let me stick you in the back with a tag. I’m totally against tagging trout!!!
