Martha's sister sounds exactly like her! What a delight! Settling in to view classic Martha! My cousin went to High School with her in Nutley NJ.😊

I remember once she gave Martha a look for using a grater to shred cabbage and I thought, yup that's how that generation of grandmas was. They could make anything with one knife.

Wow in ‘95 I was so young and poor I had never even heard of Martha! I didn’t even have a tv for awhile there…but by ‘99 I was starting a family and had my first born and discovered Martha. She taught me how to cook! And how to take pride in my surroundings.

I loved that old home Martha had in Connecticut, she did many T.V. Specials from that old home. Those old shows were so warm and cozy. They were so much more warm and cozy than the new shows Martha does now. I kind a miss that about Martha and her shows now. It always feels like there is something missing. I can see why now, those old shows are what made Martha a domestic homemaker star. Thanks for sharing this with us, it brings back happier times. When life in our country was peaceful at the holidays...P.S. I love the old T.V. commercials left in this video!

I agree completely! I’ll never forget a thanksgiving special she did from the old home.around 1985 or 1986. Nothing inspired me the way that special did! Wish I could find it again.
@DD-hy1nl3 жыл бұрын
@@marydevlin3909 I think I know which one you are referring to. I remember at Thanksgiving show where Martha put I think bay leaf under the skin of the turkey. It looked so pretty how she did that. And she showed us all her antique collection of butter turkey molds. And her beautiful dining room set up all for Thanksgiving. She served soup in glass turkey shaped bowls with the lids. I think this might be the show you might be thinking of. Or maybe not, Martha did many holidays specials back then. But I think it's on You Tube. You may have to type in what you're looking for.

Dear Martha you have truly inspired our family when it comes to Christmas. I inherited our family historic home. Over the yrs it has been decorated using your ideas and mine. One tradition that is kept is our Jacqueline Kennedy Christmas tree. We also have extensive landscaping. Because of you and adding my own ideas our home is beautiful. Not that I would ever want to correct Martha, but as a Brit, you can make both Christmas cake & puddings, not weeks, or months in advance but even years. The secret is the alcohol, it keeps them perfectly and they're actually better between 12 to 24 months aged. Yuletide Greetings To All.
