Love it! I've been kinda obsessed with drones and ambient textures lately as the creative possibilities are basically endless and they are so powerful for setting the mood.

Thanks for watching! It's so much fun creating these kinds of sounds. :D

On my channel, in the videos that feature “Fresh Stone” the jangly sounding synth is entirely made from a single vocal sample, similar to these techniques.

Wow! I am new to Ableton and just purchased the standard version. I love the ambient sounds and did not realize how easy they were to make due to your tutorial. Thank you so much for this. I want to create a fantasy whimsical drone/background sound but still working on it. Great video and thank you!

Ive been pushing samples thru Emit with distortion/reverb/delay and then resampling it just to recieve "ambient of death" kind of drones but tonite am gonna strech it and see what will come out, but i have a good feeling about it.

Awesome! Emit is hugely fun to play around with. Let me know how you go! :)

Hi Martiln! great tutorial. any idea why, when i click shift and drag on the sample it stretches but then snaps back to its original length? warp is enabled etc so i dont get whats happening...
@matttinklermusic Жыл бұрын
That's really weird! You will want to make sure that you aren't letting go of the shift key before you let go of the mouse, otherwise it won't work. Another option is to go into the clip and click on the 'x2' button in the clip options, that should also work to stretch out the clip. :) Let me know how you go!

Hi, is there any reason why this wouldn't work in Live 9? I have tried it several times with various sounds including recorded vocals and grabbing that right hand handle while holding shift just isn't working. The waveform just doesn't move at all. I used to Live all the time to record my sons but I have had a long hiatus from music and coming back to it now I am sure that I must be doing something wrong, but no matter what I try it isn't working.
@matttinklermusic2 жыл бұрын
I think the ability to stretch the clip in arrangement might have been introduced in Live 10 (don't quote me on that). If it's not working though, you can simply open up the clip, make sure it's warped, and then add a warp marker at the start and end of the clip, then drag the last warp marker out. You could also adjust the segment (Seg.) BPM value in the clip too, and that should achieve the same result. :)

@@matttinklermusic Thanks Martiln, that would explain it. I'll give those workarounds a go.

@@matttinklermusic it worked - that is setting start and end warp markers and then stretching out the end one. A bit difficult to see on my 13" laptop screen (I struggle a bit with Live zooming), but it works. Thanks again

I wish Ableton let us stretch a clip as far as we like without going through the extra steps- a reaper does this; want to make a five second clip three mines long? Just stretch it… needs some cleanup, but it’s easy.
@matttinklermusic Жыл бұрын
Yeah the segment BPM limit is fairly arbitrary and somewhat annoying, but that's where plugins like PaulStretch are super useful!
