Nash Tackle Off The Hook Podcast

Күн бұрын

In this Christmas Day edition of the podcast, joining Hassan is one of (if not the) greatest all round anglers to ever wet a line Martin Bowler.
Martin is more then just an angler with an incredible editorial career with the Angling Times through to huge tv series such as "Catching The Impossible" Martin is an extremely self driven, hard working man who has tirelessly pressed his passion for all fish species over the course of not only his professional career but his whole life.
Martin talks about his love of carp and significant carp fishing chapters for him on Elstow, Cambridge, Oxfordshire as well as some foreign adventures.
Martin has worked with and fished with the very best and he talks about the times he's spent with influential people such as John Wilson, Peter Drennan, Terry Hearn, Bernard Cribbins, Chris Yates and many more.
Finally Martin speaks in-depth about his recent struggles with ill health as well a a huge decision to leave Drennan for another brand (look out for the exclusive announcement as to where he now calls home) He also give insight into his future as he moves into opening up a carp fishery in the UK amongst other things.
Its an open, frank and hugely eye opening chat from a man who has been at the very top of his profession for a number of years. From all of us at Nash thank you for listening/watching and we wish you a very Merry Christmas!

What a job you have Hassan! A great insight from Martin on the draw backs to catching for film. Glued to this pod cast from start to end.

Brilliant signing for Nash. Id love to see some Martin Bowler specialist rods now, especially when you see some of the Nash Lads with big Perch when they're not fishing for Carp. A good Nash Avon rod and a Barbel rod with Martins name on would be great.

Tbh this is a masterclass in how to do a podcast. Hassan just lets the guests speak, dips in when needed with a well timed 'good angling' Awesome Re. The trolls and illness, a mate of mine is terminally ill and has started a vlog detailing his treatments, disease info, symptoms etc. He is not in the public eye at all apart from this, he still gets trolled. People are d*cks whether you are in the public eye or not

Definitely the vaccine causing added problems for Martin. "Died Suddenly" is not a myth, it's a fact, with already millions either having sudden heart attacks or other serious side affects. Hopefully it won't get worse for Martin. We've fished together and he really is a nice guy and a good all round specimen hunter.

Excess deaths are lower in highly vaccinated Sweden and higher in low vaccinated nations in Eastern Europe. You guys need a new theory as this one was over exaggerated too.

@@JohnRea-ex2jf Drennan seem to be more focused on match as of late and the quality of their gear (especially their rods overall) has declined massively! Couldn't tell you the last time they released a dedicated barbel rod or tench rod. 10 years ago maybe? My point was they seem to be slowing down on the specialist side of angling and there's plenty of room for the likes of Nash to come in and take up some of the market share.

Hardly a loss.. he hasn't done much for either of them for a long time. As others have said, he was an a long term sicky, despite being well enough to fish for himself, poach a cameraman and still doing bits for nash whilst getting paid by Peter Drennan. I fished places where Martin fished in the 2000s and hes known to be a prickly character.

Captain Rehook! Honestly cannot believe Martin Bowler and his conduct. Bang to rights and confirmed rehooking fish for media purposes - why didn't he just admit it instead of lying so publicly then walking it back? Not someone you would want associated with your brand.

Most people in the industry know Martin is a dodgy cat, intensely jealous and always trying to put others down when hes not being recorded. I've heard from multiple people involved that Martin didn't want to work for ill-health for 18 months on full pay, fair enough, but was still fishing loads behind the scenes, doing clips with Alan in Thailand. He didn't even speak to Peter Drennan about leaving as he knew he had done wrong. Heard he poached a cameraman too from Drennan during his sick leave.

Interesting podcast…lost interest on the Carp Fishing, as virtually all podcasts involving Carp are the same…started off well, but lost its way when he started droning on about how big his fish/records were, dropped into the same trap as all the other angling egos…not a fan of MB, but enjoyed the John Wilson stories, who was a proper angling legend.

That would annoy me too but check your ticket. Salmon anglers have right of way in a lot of clubs. The salmon rights on my local stretch on the severn is held by PASS and we have to let them have 3 casts if they are salmon fishing! Stupid rule but cant do anything about it as salmon fishing is a separate lease.
