I was never ever a Devils fan and I decided to just watch Martin Brodeur watch his games watch his stats and just see what everybody was talking about and after three years of watching an organization that has taught many other teams how to run I can see Martin Brodeur is one of the best goaltenders that has ever played in the world to say he’s the absolute best it’s impossible to back it up to say he’s one of the top three the hell ever played this game. That’s an easy one

People say Holtbys save this playoffs was one of the best ever. Maybe it was, it sure was pretty... But Marty did this kind of things weekly, so much so it was just chalked up as "Marty being Marty" after awhile. Tyler Bartle he didn’t let himself retire a devil. We all knew he was done, the organization knew he was done but he wasn’t ready to call it quits. It was time for the organization to move on and he should have just retired. As we all saw in St. Louis, he didn’t have it anymore
@wholeass833 жыл бұрын
@@patrickbooth5091 devils shoulda showed some loyalty to him and let him play out his final season. We can throw away a season to rebuild with a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds but couldn't let him stay for a season or 2. It was bs. No devils fan would have been mad.
@patrickbooth50913 жыл бұрын
@@wholeass83 they did let him stay until long after he was done. The devils should have started rebuilding years before they did. Most overrated goalie of all time. Pretty easy to get all of those stats when you play behind the greatest trap of all time and when Niedermayer and Stevens are in front of you. Top 10 all time for sure but not top 5.

Consider this: Scott Stevens *BEFORE* Brodeur: +/- of +151 Scott Stevens *WITH* Brodeur: +/- of +244 Ken Daneyko *BEFORE* Brodeur: +/- of -26 Ken Daneyko *WITH* Brodeur: +/- of +104 Niedermayer *BEFORE* Brodeur: +/- of +8 Niedermayer *WITH* Brodeur: +/- of +163 Niedermayer *AFTER* Brodeur: +/- of -5 How About Brodeur as a starter *WITH* them: 363 Wins in 661 Games Played for a Win% of 54.9% He posted a .912 SV% and a 2.18 GAA, 1 Vezina and 3X First or Second Team All-Star Selection Brodeur as a starter *WITHOUT* them: 291 Wins in 526 Games Played for a Win% of 55.3% He posted a .915 SV% and a 2.29 GAA, 3 Vezinas and 4X First or Second Team All-Start Selection Brodeur had a better Win% *WITHOUT* them Brodeur had a better SV% *WITHOUT* them Brodeur Won 3 Vezinas as the best goalie in the league *WITHOUT* them Brodeur led the Devils to the Stanley Cup with his Top D-men being Bryce Salvador, Andy Greene, Marek Zidlicky, Anton Volchenkov & Mark Fayne I bet you're one of those people that say "Hasek dragged the sabres to the 99 final" am I right?? Tell me something, would you replace Alexei Zhitnik, Jason Woolley, Jay McKee, Richard Smehlik, Rhett Warrener or James Patrick with any of the Top 6 Defensemen of the 2012 Devils? Yeah, I didn't think so. Oh, and before you tell me the Devils in 2012 were better offensively than the Sabres in 1999, Get this: The 1999 Sabres averaged *2.81* Goals per Game in the Playoffs. The 2012 Devils averaged *2.46* Goals per Game in the Playoffs. Maybe you're thinking, well the Defensive LA Kings likely skewed the Devils' Goals per Game average, and guess what, you'd be right. Prior to the SCF vs. the LA Kings the Devils averaged *2.83* Goals per Game. But guess what? Prior to the SCF vs. the Dallas Stars the Sabres averaged a whopping *3.33* Goals per Game. So not only did Hasek have more goal support when he dragged the 99 Sabres to the SCF but he had an undeniably better Top 6 D-men. Brodeur is NOTHING without Stevens and Neidermayer eh? Oh one more thing: as to your comment about the trap, do a little research and it won't take you long to realize that (a) the trap was built around Brodeur's ability to handle the puck which is why it was so successful in NJ and (b) plenty of teams played some version of the trap including but not limited to the 2003 Ducks, 1996 Panthers, Hasek's Sabres, Roy's Canadiens, Jacques Lemaire's Minnesota Wild, Guy Boucher's 1-3-1 defensive system he instituted as both the Lightning coach and current Senators coach. The list goes on and on.
