I just became hooked on Doc Martin a few months ago. I just love the show and cast of people. I am a huge fan of Martin Clunes who is such a great actor. I’m so happy he is successful and happy. Such a good human being.🌹☺️🥰

Same here, although I live in UK, it took a distant enthusiastic cousin in USA to recommend the series, & within a shockingly short amount of time I had watched (& loved) all 82 episodes! I loved the 2 policemen (good move to bring the first one back), the 2 aunts, the 3 receptionists, the last little James (so cute) as well as the main stars & the mad baddie! ❤

Same here too. Our local Catalan TV channel has just broadcasted Doc Martin full series this summer, two episodes a day..and it hits audiences levels. My husband and me got hooked from first episode, loving all the characters, but specially Doc Martin as a fantastic and amazing cross between House MD and TBBT’s Sheldon Cooper. The series has the old world’s British tv quality, perfectly written and directed and very, very well acted by all actors!

Seeing an interview like this brings home how different Clunes is from the Doc Martin character he inhabited for so many years: in real life he's a warm, delightful person. Not the grumpy icurmudgeon. That takes talent. :)

Thank you. THE best interview with MC for a very long time. Just like friends having a catch up chat. MC is such a lovely man. He's brilliant with his fans too. On the Chaplin side of things I have a profoundly deaf son (now 43). He's on the autistic spectrum. Back in the early 80s he was sat on the floor in front of the TV....he never really connected to anything but a film started - Modern Times. The bit where your grandfather falls into the machinery made me cry....because for the first time my son howled with laughter. He'd connected with humour. I then bought him loads of "visual" comedy....all the oldies. So, a huge thank you to your grandfather. Martin knows about my son. He kindly sent me a little video he made especially for Chris during covid and when I saw him last year in Port Isaac the first thing he asked was "how's your son". When you think of how busy MC is and how many people he meets it was lovely to be remembered. 💖

That is nice to hear. Thank you so much for sharing your story! Modern times is one of my favourites too. Martin couldn’t have been kinder. He is a true gentleman. Much love to you and your son. All the best, Spencer

Thank you for this heart warming interview. I am a huge American fan of Doc Martin and of the actor Martin Clunes. This interview invited me into the conversations as if I also was in the room chatting with you both (if I only could). MC (as I have come to know him by) is a brilliant actor as he has molded his character into being very sensitive intuitive person. (as you being to know "Doc" as a human being). I will miss the show greatly, the show gave me, and I hope others the perspective of life as reality really is, and that we are about the same. It was very intuitive in the lesson learned (at least for me). Luisa R, a fan.

I came here because of Martin Clunes and especially intrigued by “Chaplin”, but come to find out it’s a lovely conversation in an intimate setting that makes you feel like you’re there. I enjoyed the natural lighting even the ambience as a contrast, even if accidental. And the sound was lovely and natural. The grandson of Charlie Chaplin is an amazing interviewer. Thank you for sharing! I have been under the weather, to say the least, and this was a great cheered-upper. Thank you for doing this and doing it so well. I am a fan now!

You are so welcome. It is well deserved. I keep watching it and I enjoy the whole ambiance almost as much as the conversation. Lol I find myself just listening and looking out the windows behind you two. I’ve never seen any interview done like this and I don’t understand why. The rainy day just happens to make it feel more intimate.

This is a marvelous interview. You seem to be quite in tune with the charming Martin Clunes and a similar sense of humor. I loved your grandfather in Limelight and the lovely Claire Bloom as 36:04 the dancer. Love from America. xx

You are not unlike your grandfather in that you take your time to come up with unusual interview subjects who are somehow connected with Chaplin. Also, I grew up in the 1970's listening to a lot of Yes and Queen. I wonder if your father enjoys sharing stories from his time working at Montreux? It sounds like he worked with many major acts of the day. I, for one, would like to hear more from your dad, maybe in the form of a book or an episode of this show?

Although a good actor, the script of Doc Martin potrays him as domestically abusing his wife Louisa. Its emionally and psychological abuse, very subtle but it's there. A traumatic childhood is NO excuse, he needs to grow up and act like a man, not a 'victim'.........I realise it's acting but is not good for young boys to be watching and perhaps thinking this behaviour is acceptable...

It’s obvious that he is on some kind of a spectrum & Louisa understands (but doesn’t always enjoy) that plus is used to & good at working with children!
