As far as transformative signings go, Özil was the first one back in the day, which led to our club ending a long term trophy drought. His signing made everyone at the club better, and helped raise the level on and off the pitch, there’s no denying that fact. The next one was the loan signing of Ødegaard. I had a feeling Arteta and Edu were upto something, and when he did sign permanently for a measly fee by today’s crazy standards, I knew we will soon see something special. Of course, everyone took notice of him last season, but I was crying already watching him play in an Arsenal shirt an year earlier. A part of me died the day Cesc left us. With Martin, that part lives again. My captain.

Awesome video like always. I completely agree with your points however I need to add something. Odegaard and Saka are monsters and opponents know that. Therefore they are always double marking them all the time when they have the ball. Therefore, its harder to do something with the ball and pump their offensive numbers. However, if opponents put so much focus on them, that means others should have much more space. And Arteta wants that actually. He always wants to overload one side and then strike from another and thats the point. Even if Odegaard is not making the numbers that we want this season, he is still a key to our strategy. And Arteta is very happy with him, he even said in the interview that he should only keep doing what he is doing 🙂 Cheers

Some of his latest matches have been a little bleak, but so has the entire team. It's still not clicking like it did last season, and the style of play is very different. This has to be a conscious choice by Arteta. About MØ, I still remember how much tighter Arsenal got in the press just 3-4 games after he started playing. And the press is still great, now up there with City. I am not comparing him to Bernardo Silva, just making a note of a player that plays even more wildly different roles in a team depending on opposition and who is available. Pep has his swiss army knife to solve nearly any problem in the team. Maybe Arteta is trying to find someone more diverse to give him some of the flexibility Pep gets from Bernardo.

Another thing is that we've not had Partey who finds line breaking passes at the base of midfield for much of the season. @@juuglord8509 no, systems wasn't around, like how pep and arteta are playing, özil struggled with Emery and arteta because they remove his freedom as a n0 10, that's why their are hardly any individual players like 10 years ago, when there are hardly systems and teams were built around individual players. Now all you get is system players that would look class in a certain system and look thrash in another, e.g de bruyne, halaand, sterling etc. Players that would look world class in a certain system, buy put them as individual players where the team is built around and they turn average players, and for the records ødegaard at Real sociedad was crazy similar to özil, not like to like in their positioning, areas the like to play in, özil likes to play centrally, while ødegaard likes to drift out right, but their passing, vision, control, reading of the game and link up is familiar, øzil formed a partnership with sanchez as ødegaard formed a partnership to saka

And you think that's a recent phenomenon? That players play better in certain teams or set ups than others? That's always been the case. Again, it's just an excuse. Systems have been around forever. Great vid. Also I think Saka could do everything odegaard does and more if he was tasked to. This swiss-army-knife-degaard is not only his evolution, it is the only way he stays in this squad long term.

Lol noooo. He definitely cant. He cant pass, carrying, create, coordinate the press, lead, resist the press anywhere on the pitch etc like odeegard.
