This was my daddies favourite Mozart. Born in 1901 in Dresden and survived the terrible bombings he sadly passed away in 1946 but I miss him terribly even to this day. This music connects me to him.

This movement has, in my opinion, the best opening phrases ever written (concerto, symphony, anything). I think Tchaikovsky's 5th mvt 2 comes close, but with a completely different emotion. I can't believe I can listen to such beauty any time I want. I am in awe of Mozart, modern symphonic excellence, and the technology that brings this into my home.

Love the clarinet one note at a time instead of slurring. Mozart wrote this near the end of his life. His heart must have been melancholy in this movement. The first time I heard this I cried, I too was melancholy!

@matboy891 low C below low Eb, it's a basset soprano clarinet in A. they're only made to play this piece. in the score, mozart wrote in notes lower than the range of the standard A clarinet, so this kind of clarinet was created so it was possible to dig those notes out as opposed to transposing them up an octave.

@LOTRzagorath It's a Basset clarinet in A. It's a few inches longer than a normal A clarinet so it can reach that low C, which is what those extra keys are for.

@JongAmPark Well it's either a basset clarinet or A clarinet. Mozart originally wrote it for basset... and I know that they can get lower, but A clarinets can play all the notes in this piece, and is longer than a Bb clarinet too.
