With Inside of You I've learned to never skip episodes with guests which aren't eye catching. I loved hearing Martin's enthusiasm talking 70s Westerns, love of cinema, and how the acting profession used to be. What a 54 year career!

I love how he's still learning and evolving as actor and still has that passion.

I remember being in the crowd for the final fight in Karate Kid 3 and meeting Martin briefly. Shook his hand, which was massive, and turned it over to see if they did indeed scar it up from Karate Kid 1. Talked about Hard Time on Planet Earth which aired on CBS at the time they were finishing up KK3.

Another great interview. I was lucky enough to meet Martin Kove at a Con where he signed my Karate Kid photo of Kreese in his army gear, which appears in the Cobra Kai dojo in The Karate Kid. He was such a nice guy who had a lot of time for his fans. He told me he still has the original framed picture at home. We also talked briefly about working with Tarantino. He was very proud about that. His Sammy Davis jr/ Tarantino story was great. 🥋👊🏼🐍

I think what I like most about this podcast is that the casual environment of it really helps to humanize the celebrities that we idolize. It gives us an insight into them without being invasive, and it in a way helps them connect with their fanbase. It shows everyone that they're just like us and gives everyone a safe space to come together, and really gives the celebrities that are being interviewed a relaxing environment to open up and be normal more or less.

That was a really enjoyable interview. Martin's a really talented actor, always gives a great performance in every film I've seen him in. He can show a lot of emotion in his parts and can play warm, human roles, as well as tough guys, which takes real talent to pull off. "Back in the badlands, my man!".

I saw the original “The Karate Kid” back in either 1984 or ‘85 while I was stationed in South Korea at age twenty. When the current motion pictures left the U.S. theaters, those films made it to the Army post theaters in Korea (AFKN) shortly thereafter. I consider Martin Kove a good actor, and obviously a good guy. But here it comes: Mr. Kove has always reminded me of former-WBO Heavyweight champion, Tommy Morrison (1995). For real. There was one time, when I convinced a girl to watch the Morrison vs. George Foreman fight with me. She did. During introduction of both fighters…”Llllllet’s get ready to rumblllllllle!”, I told the girl that the white guy was the karate instructor bad guy in “The Karate Kid”. 😂 She goes “You’re kiddiiiiiing”. 😁😁👨🏻🦳🇺🇸🎸🇺🇸🏈Roll Tide!!

Question, what is your opinion on first amendment auditors?
@Ray_Comments-yh5bwАй бұрын
Great interview! I just wish privileged people would be honest about their advantages to themselves instead of spending 10 minutes defending it or trying to get ahead of it. Sure, you did a good audition, but at some point it can't be ignored that you have networked ties just based on something not related to the industry. The entire industry is way too full of nepotism. I bet there were other people who also auditioned well. People have to make a decision and they're never going to just straight up say "Well, these five people all fit but we chose your kid cus he's your kid." So of course they are going to say something else.

What a genuinely lovely, thoughtful & positive guy. My appreciation for Cove just went up a notch over and above his welcome renaissance in Kai. Also agree whole-heartedly about the legacy of the American western: full of classic archetypes and themes, whether that be the vagaries of time, or hope, or redemption. A genre that never dies. Good luck with the comic book - and THANK YOU for the "sweep the leg" chills being such a memorable part of my 80's movie childhood, Martin Cove!

Kove pulling a gun in an audition reminds me of the joke they made in the show Barry where Henry Winkler's character talked about bringing a gun to an audition for the guy who "robbed the house on Full House" for authenticity, but they "freaked out" for some odd reason.

I have read The Lion of Ireland. Amazing book, one of my top picks. Subsequently read Pride of Lions (about Boru's kids). Morgan Llywelyn has great style. This has been talked about being made into a movie and later a series, for so long... over 20 years?... I no longer expect to ever see it. Seems a likely smash with the success of Vikings and similar shows.

It had been awhile since I saw First Blood Part Two, but looking at it with a more analytical eye, Martin’s character wasn’t actually really villainous (he was legitimately confused when he received the order to abandon Rambo)

Just finished the first half of season 6 of Cobra Kai. Thrilled to see this interview. As someone who grew up with the Karate Kid movies, Cobra Kai has been a truly unique experience, not just for a sequel or reboot, but to live in a world with iconic characters given the space to breathe and expand, create a more complex and rich world. Sure, it's melodramatic and silly at points. So is the source material. But how often do you get to revisit characters with the original actors with writers who have reverence for the source AND creativity to tell their own stories, not just rehash the old. Tremendous respect for what the whole team is doing.
